M: Crystal, I appreciate the time you've spent with me on the biology project. My paper couldn't have been completed without your sincere help.
W: My pleasure! I've also learned a lot from you.
W: Dad, have you seen my hairdryer? I remember I blew my hair dry last night and left it in my bedroom. But it's not there, nor in the sitting room.
M: Oh, your mom used it and put it in the bathroom.
W: Do you know that the government's planning to invest money in public transportation, in order to build more long-distance bus routes?
M: Wow! That's really good news!
W: I've been considering buying a coffee machine for weeks, but I'm simply too busy to do it.
M: Why don't you buy it over the Internet? You just need to register and follow the instructions for making purchases.
M: Tina, you were late for work three times last week! The manager's not happy with that.
W: I know. But my brother just had an operation and I need to bring breakfast to him before I drive to work. Maybe I should get up earlier.

M: Yes. I plan to buy a car next year. I'd like to travel more. I've been here for a few years already and I feel like going to see more beautiful places.
W: Sounds great.
M: I've already signed up for a class near my apartment. It starts next month.

W: This is beautiful. Are we setting up camp here or beside the river?
M: Let's rest here for a bit. I told the others to meet us here so we could take advantage of the view to take some pictures, but we should make camp along the river.
W: How did you discover this place? It seems pretty far away from the town. You could get lost if you didn't know the way.
M: Although I live in the town with my father, my uncle used to take my brother and me to his cottage near here, and we often fished in the river.
W: Why don't we just sleep in the cottage, then?
M: It's abandoned. By the way, did you bring the water from the car?
W: No, I thought you brought it. Now we have to go back to the car!
M: Cool down. The water in the river is clean.

M: I'm considering applying to a graduate school in France. You've been there for two years. What do you think?
W: I find it worthwhile. France has been a popular study abroad destination because of its many excellent universities.
M: Are the fees for studying in France high?
W: They might be higher than those in Australia or Russia, but lower than those in, let's say, the US.
M: What about accommodation?
W: You can choose to live in the university dormitory. It's cheaper than living off campus.
M: Okay. I'd also like to ask you about application procedures. You know, I went to the Study Aboard Center yesterday morning and they told me it depends on where I'm going.
W: Right. Different universities have different application procedures, so you'll need to look them up on their websites.

W: Morning, everyone. Welcome to Business! Today I'm talking to Richard Butler, Managing Director of Stroy, the straw toy which every youngster wants. Welcome, Richard!
M: Hello, Jenny.
W: So, how did it all start?
M: I'd been running my father's plastic component business and we were producing make-up boxes. I'd taken it as far as I could, but I felt it was not interesting.
W: The market was steady, wasn't it?
M: Yes, it was. I was earning quite a good income from it, but I needed a new challenge.
W: So what gave you the idea for Stroy?
M: I was at a wedding party, sitting in a corner toying with plastic drinking straws on my table. I pieced them together and managed to make a toy of them. I realized that with the right structure I could make some impressive new toys.
W: How did you plan to get started then?
M: My initial idea was to develop this new toy and sell the concept to a big toy company. After the model was ready, I tried to convince the big producers, but they didn't want to know.
W: So did you go ahead and set up your company then?
M: Yes. I decided that since they weren't interested, I would learn about their business and do it myself.

My mom's a wonderful woman. She was born in Texas in 1968 and worked as a Spanish teacher until 2005. Then two years later, with my father's help, she built a shelter for children in Honduras. Alzheimer's disease, a progressive brain disorder, was a disease I'd known for years, but I always saw it at a distance. However, in 2020, everything was different. My mom developed this disease that year. But luckily she doesn't have Parkinson's disease or any blood pressure disorders, which are common diseases of the elderly. Right now, my mom lives in a special care center that meets the needs of people who suffer from such medical conditions. They often offer activities including singing, exercise, and even short trips in the local area. Although my mom isn't able to participate in those activities like she did in the past, she still enjoys the simple things: holding hands, watching some TV shows, and taking short walks outside. Several times a week, a nurse comes to bathe her. Every weekend, I visit her, sharing everything in my life with her, although there are always no replies.
