W: Yesterday morning was beautiful. The warm sunshine, a light wind. I thought it was going to continue in the afternoon.

M: So did I. That's why I didn't take my umbrella.

M: Hi, my name is Randy Green. I have an appointment with Mr. Wilson at 9:30.

W: Hello, Mr. Green. Just go to the meeting room and the manager is waiting for you there.

W: There is a limit of three books for each person, but you take four books.

M: Thanks for telling me this. I'll drop this one and be certain to return the other three on time.

W: I can't make up my mind whether to ask Alex or Bill to paint the house.

M: What difference does it make? They're both excellent painters. And I think we just need to find out which one of them is free this weekend.

W: Larry, have you found your missing old pictures?

M: No. And my mom is still angry with me.

W: Maybe you can turn to social media to recover them. By the way, you'd better store digital photos in the future.

M: I'm just taking a relaxing walk in this park.

W: Oh, what are you carrying? A new bird?

M: Yes, it's a parrot. Isn't it cute?

W: Yes, it is! Did you buy it in Nancy's Pet Shop?

M: No. It was my daughter Emma who bought it yesterday. We call it Lulu.

M: What's that?

W: It's a list of questions I'm going to ask at the childcare center when I visit it today. I want to be prepared.

M: What questions are you going to ask?

W: I want to know what their policies are on teaching  kids and what kinds of food they serve. And I want to know if I can observe anytime I want to and if there is a secure check-in and check-out system.

M: These are all questions worth raising, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised that you've really done your homework.

W: That's why you married me, right?

听下面一段对话,回答第11至第13三个小题。现在你有15秒钟的时间阅读这三个小题。

W: Hey, Todd! Can I ask you a favor?

M: Sure, anytime.

W: I really need a place to stay, and I heard that your house is for rent.

M: Yes. I'll be away on business for a month, so I do rent my house, but for you it's free.

W: Oh, amazing. Maybe I need to stay for a week, from next Monday.

M: Yeah, you can do that. But there's a problem. You can't park your car because my house has no built-in garage and there's no space in front of my house. But there's a cheap parking lot about two blocks away.

W: OK, I guess I can park my car there.

M: I will write down routes to my house and send you a map. And I will leave the key for you with my neighbor.

W: Excellent! Thank you very much!

W: Dr. Horn, I'm tired almost every day. Even when I get up in the morning, I have no strength to get up and dress. Besides, I have a poor appetite.

M: How's your sleep?

W: Very bad.

M: Are you always worried about your study?

W: No. But I've been worried about my job lately. I'm about to graduate. And I've just found a job. It's really hard. So I devote all my time to my work, even my sleep time.

M: Well, I got it. There's nothing wrong with you. You're just stressed out. What you need to handle are your mental problems.

W: I don't know what to do.

M: I know a psychologist who will teach you how to let go of your worries. I'll give you her number.

W: OK. But are you sure I'm not physically ill?

M: Yes, I'm pretty sure.

听下面一段独白,回答第17至第20四个小题。现在你有20秒钟的时间阅读这四个小题。

Edinburgh is the world's leading festival city. There are about a dozen of festivals throughout the year, and perhaps the biggest of those is the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The Fringe falls in August and is the world's largest arts festival. It dates back to 1947, when eight theater groups turned up to perform at the Edinburgh International Festival. However, they didn't have invitations. That didn't stop them, and they just went ahead and staged their shows anyway. The theater fans went wild for them.

Year by year more and more performers followed their example and in 1958 the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society was created in response to the success of this growing trend. The Society formalized the existence of such collective performances, provided information for artists, published the Fringe program, and created a central box office.

That spirit is still alive in today's Fringe. Whoever has something to tell can put on a show. They just need to find their own spot for their performances. The Fringe has events for children and adults alike. Visitors can enjoy many kinds of shows. Most shows offer cheap tickets, and some now are free of charge. So don't miss the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
