M: How long will I have to stay here? I've been waiting for an hour.
W: You'll be here for another thirty minutes at least. The police aren't letting anyone through until six.
M: I should have stayed at the office.

M: Yeah, I'm afraid so. Last Friday this elevator was out of service all day long.
W: Do you think I should press the emergency button?
M: No, let's just wait a minute or two first. It may start by itself again.

M: I want to buy something for my sister. Thanksgiving Day is coming soon.
W: What does your sister like?
M: She likes clothes.
W: What kind of clothes are you looking for?
M: I don't know. My sister loves purple. Do you have any purple clothes?
W: Yes. Here are some purple shirts. Oh, isn't this one pretty?
M: I guess so, but I don't really like the design.
W: OK. Well, what do you think of this one?
M: It's kind of ugly.
W: Ugly! OK. Maybe we should look at dresses for your sister.

M: Hi, Mary. Are you free on Saturday?
W: Hmm, I am not doing anything this weekend. But why?
M: I'd like to buy a set of tea ware. How about going with me?
W: That's great! I'm fond of Chinese tea culture. Besides, you may help me choose one set for my grandpa. He loves tea.
M: With pleasure. By the way, are there any people drinking tea in your country??
W: Well, many, I should say. But we Americans love cold tea and usually  drink with sugar or lemon in it.
M: That's a lot different. I guess that's because you are too busy to wait for the making of hot tea.
W: I think you are right. Mm, how is tea made in your country?
M: It's more than I could describe. But it takes long to prepare the tea ware and boil the water.?
W: That's very interesting!

M: I want a pet. What's your suggestion?
W: A pet? Oh, first you have to make sure that you can take full responsibility for the pet. Don't get a pet on momentary enthusiasm.
M: You bet! I've considered the question thoroughly.
W: Then it's time to decide what animal to keep as a pet.
M: Maybe a dog.
W: It's really a wonderful choice. However, you'd better consider your lifestyle and living conditions before making the decision.
M: It's not as easy as I expected.
W: Yes, there are no easy ways of selecting a pet. It takes time and work before you discover your perfect pet.
M: It's too complex. I'll consider it further. Will you help me if I have other questions?
W: Sure. Good luck!

W: Mr. Miller, you were late for work, weren't you?
M: Yes, I'm very sorry.
W: Why did you get here so late?
M: I watched TV till very late last night.
W: What was on?
M: It was an exciting football match, France against Germany. So, I got up late and didn't have breakfast and left home in a hurry.
W: Did you catch the bus?
M: No, I called a taxi. There were a lot of cars and buses on the highway. Unfortunately, an accident happened. Then, there was a traffic jam. I was very anxious.
W: What happened after that?
M: The police came and solved the problem. I waited for a long time. When I got to the office, it was already 10 o'clock.
W: I hope that you won't be late again. Otherwise I will fire you.
M: Sure, I'll never be late again.

I always dreamed of opening my own restaurant. I always loved cooking. So when it came time for college, I knew that the cooking institute was definitely the place for me, although a lot of my friends went on to learn computer skills and my father wanted  me to study science. And when I graduated, I couldn't wait to get started. Well, that was probably my first mistake. I didn't go slowly. I picked a building for my restaurant in a residential neighborhood. I made a great effort to decorate. But the parking in the neighborhood was really difficult. I didn't have enough regular customers, because people didn't really drive by and see it. At first, I thought it was great not to have any competition, but now I realize that another restaurant or two would have brought people into the area. My another mistake was that I wanted to serve only the best and use organic food. Well, the problem with that was that I had to charge a lot of money for the meals. That didn't help business either. If only I had known then what I know now!
