W: How wonderful! We'll have three days off. Do you have any plan for the holiday?
M: I was planning to go to the beach with my parents, but my mother suddenly fell ill yesterday. I'm afraid I'll have to stay home to look after her.
Text 2
W: Oh,no! What a mess! How can this be? There is water everywhere on the floor.
M: Calm down, honey. I've told you that the water tap has gone wrong and that we should have it replaced, but you simply wouldn't listen.

W: Where did you go when you were in Australia? You wouldn't miss Sydney!

W: Can I help you, sir?
M: Yes, please. I bought this shirt at your shop yesterday, but when I tried it on, I found it a bit too tight across my shoulders. I wonder if I can get it changed for a larger size or possibly have my money back.
W: Let me show you a larger size of the same color, sir. One moment please. How about this one, a size 42?
M: Let me see. Hmm, yes, this one fits me much better. Thank you.
W: You're welcome, sir. And would you like to have a look at this tie? The color matches this red shirt you've bought.
M: Let me see.

W: What kind of job did you get?
M: I'm working for a local newspaper.
W: Really? Congratulations! As an editor or a journalist?
M: A journalist.

M: Mom, where are you going?
W: I am going to buy some food to cook supper.
M: Good. I want to go with you.
W: How strange! Our little emperor now asks to help out with shopping.
M: We learnt about vegetables and meat at school. But I have never seen the real things.
W: Wow, that's something new. Let's go...What's this, honey? Can you recognize it?
M: Er, is it cabbage?
W: Cabbage? Is that what they teach at school now? OK, honey, it's spinach.
M: Yeah, I know, this is Popeye's favorite food.
W: There we go.
M: Mom, come here. I know this. It is carrot. Am I right?
W: Great! It's dark outside. Let's hurry up.
M: OK. Today let me help you cook, will you, Mom?
W: OK. That's a deal.
Text 10
I have been interested in doing family research for many years because we can learn more about ourselves by studying our family history. I first started by interviewing my oldest living relatives about their lives, and I recorded these interviews on an MP4 player. Then I wrote down the names of my parents and grandparents in a family tree. After that, I tried to fill in the missing information including the birth/death dates, the birthplaces and the state of marriage, etc. by collecting certain records from government sources like the city office or other offices in charge of preserving these records. I also visited the local churches where I was able to find other necessary statistics. Looking over records, wills and personal letters can also provide clues to your family's past. Besides, I also used the Internet to search for missing ancestors, and one such website is https: //familysearch.org. Now, I am writing a book about my family history. It will be published soon.
