M: Who is your favorite athlete of all time? I like Maradona, since I play football.

W:  The only sport I've ever played is basketball, but I like baseball player Babe Ruth the most.   

 

W: Are you here to be interviewed for the teaching job?

M: Yes, I was due to be interviewed at 3:15 pm, but they're running fifteen minutes late.  

W: Ah, my appointment is fifteen minutes after yours.  

 

 

M: Let's get all of our ideas on the board first. So we can read them all and then decide the solution. Let's start with you, Susan.

W: Alright, where is the marker?  

 

 

W: Quickly, get the camera out. I need to take a photo of this landscape before we pass by. The mountains are so beautiful.

M: Be careful not to drop it, though. It'll sink in a second and I can't swim.  

 

 

M: Hello, do you have any idea why I am stopping you today? For your information, it's not because you're speeding.

W: Oh no, my taillight must have finally died. It has been losing power for a while.

M: Where do you think you left it?

W: I must have left it in the classroom. Let's go back there.

W: It is surprising that someone with your level of intelligence works in construction.  Didn't you go to university?

M: Actually, I study management in school. But my dad owns this building company, and I like to help him when I can. Every year during the summer break, I join the crew and lay bricks. That's my specialty.

W: But it is such dangerous work. With your background, wouldn't it make more sense to make advertisements for your dad, or manage the crew?

M: Actually, I like the work. I get to be outdoors. It's a change of pace from what I usually do all day — sit in front of a computer and think. It feels like a more honest way of making money. But it's definitely not easy.

W: That's why I made us leave early. Now, we can also walk around and explore the area before the show starts.

M: Good call. What do you want to see?

W:There's a famous lake not far from Central Park. Let's see it.  If we come back here when it's warm, we can even go swimming and have a barbecue.

M: OK. Let's be quick, though. I already see some groups coming. Imagine having to squeeze into the massive crowds once the music starts.

W: Yes, that would really be something. Don't worry, it's not far.

W: A group of people are wearing the colorful clothing. What are they doing?

M: Those are costumes. They're wearing them because they are professional folk dancers. I think they are doing a street performance. We should go and see.  

W: Great! I'm a dancer too, although their style is very different from mine. I'm a contemporary dancer,  so usually I just wear my regular clothes.

M: Traditional styles of art have always interested me. Their ancestors also did  what they're doing now. Instead of reading history books and seeing history lectures, we are seeing living history.

W: It also looks quite difficult — like a mix of gymnastics and ballet.

M: Oh, I know why they are performing here in the street today. Where they practise is right in front of their dance studio. I guess it's like a stage to make the school get more attention and more students. You should sign up and try some classes!

W: Ha-ha, I was never that good. I always got frightened on stage in front of the audience. Maybe you should!

M: I don't think I could dance either. I can barely touch my toes.

W: That's not so important. I've never heard someone play the piano like you do.

M:Well, it is my job, after all.

Hello, new colleagues! I don't really know what to say today, so I will try to keep this short. I am honored to be at such an excellent company, especially right after completing my degree and research. I was a volunteer here, 8 years ago, I wished I could one day join the South  Boston Electronics Corporation officially. So, I'd like to thank the human resources team, where I worked back then, for making that first experience successful.  Hopefully, my time with the Business Strategy Department will be equally rewarding. My research background is in engineering and development. However, I applied to the Business Strategy Department because I was impressed by the strong talent in the department. I hope to learn a lot. In my final year in graduate school, I read many books, especially about engineering, my area of knowledge. However, my favorite book was from a class I took on Portuguese literature. It had this quote:People never learn anything by being told. They have to find out by themselves. The book talks a lot about psychology — its main focus. However, I'm not sure that the quote is completely correct. While at this company, I plan on learning everything I can both by being told and through discovery. I look forward to meeting all of you personally. Feel free to come to my office downstairs on the 10th floor and chat anytime.
