W: Did you have anything exciting during the weekend, Johnson?
M: No, not really. I was thinking of playing football with my friends. But the speech competition is approaching, so I had to stay at home to prepare for it.
M: If I work out twice per week, when will I have a six-pack abs?
W: At least one month. But you'll also need to eat healthier foods and do running exercises.
M: Later on, I'll go to the gym three times per week rather than once.
M: I've been scared to travel by plane ever since I was a kid. I love driving, though.
W: I agree about flying. It's so inconvenient to drive long distances, though.
M: I bet a really fast train would be the best alternative.
W: Yes, that would be perfect!
M: Spain and France are some of the best football teams in the world. This will be a great game.
W: Are they playing here in Paris?
M: They chose a stadium in England to avoid giving either team home-field advantage.
W: Thank you, young man. This bag is so heavy. I never could have carried it onto the train.
M: My pleasure, ma'am. I saw you struggling and felt I needed to help.
W: You're a kind boy — you remind me of my grandson. Thanks again!
M: Should I dress as a soldier or a cowboy for the holiday?
W: You wear the same costume every year. Why don't you mix your costumes up and be a movie character like Iron Man?
M: Mom said she would buy me a superhero costume. That's a great idea. What are you being?
W: Probably nothing. I'm going to take a break from costumes and candy this year.
M: You'll be missing out on all the fun!
W: Not really. I'll stay home and watch some scary movies with Mom.
M: She'll love your company. After I go out with my friends, I'll join you.
W: It'll be so fun. I hope you can join us.
W: Where is the director? This is the third time he's been late this week.
M:If he is not here, tell the crew to break for lunch.
W: But it's barely 10:00 a.m. We only had breakfast two hours ago.
M: I know, but that will buy an hour for us. I'll contact the studio to see if they know where he is.
W: Tell them they should fire him and you should take over.
M: I'm just the assistant director. I don't want to direct this movie.
W: But if you step forward and show your leadership, the studio will notice that and give you a film you do want.
M: I hadn't thought of it like that, but you're right.
W: I want to find a perfect apartment, but I don't have time to wait.
M: I have many apartments. I promise to find you a good place to live.
W: I hope so. One of our requirements is a large kitchen, as my husband loves to cook.
M: I have a beautiful apartment downtown with new kitchen equipment.
W: My husband will take a look. I actually don't know much about kitchens. I'd also love to have big windows with a city view.
M: You'll love living downtown. The views are fantastic.
W: Living downtown would be nice. Now we live outside the city. This weekend I'll be out of town, and my work schedule keeps me busy most nights as well.
M: I have the same work hours.
W: Let's go as soon as possible. We need to move into a new apartment this month.
M: We can go on Monday. Then hopefully you'll be relaxed in your new downtown apartment by next week.
W: Thank you, but we need to keep our expectations low as we've had many problems recently.
M: Excuse me, Miss. You must show your ticket to board this train to Tokyo.
W: I'm sorry. I bought a ticket online, but I can't find a place to print out the information.
M: There's no need to print it out. If you show me the information on your phone, that will be OK.
W: The other problem is that I bought a ticket for the wrong departure time. I'm trying to change it, but the woman at the ticket office doesn't speak English. I'm so confused.
M: I'm sorry to hear about your trouble. If you'd like, I can help you talk to the ticket office staff.
W: That would be great. I've been so confused about organizing my ticket.
M: What time would you like to leave and how many people are you traveling with?
W: I'm still waiting for one of my friends to join me here, but I think she's running late. The train we need to take is leaving in about 30 minutes.
M: Miss, that is barely enough time. Do you urgently have to get to Tokyo?
W: Not really. We just agreed to take that train. She'll be here soon. I'll tell her I'll wait for her at the ticket office.
M: I understand. Now let's talk to the lady at the ticket office.
W: Hello everyone, and welcome to today's job fair. We are here today to talk about choosing a career and exploring new job opportunities. Many young people look for careers in the most popular job markets such as computer programming or website design. These industries are important, because in the future we will continue to need more people working on computer technology. Additionally, many young people choose jobs in health care. Doctors and hospital workers will always be in high demand, but the fastest-growing job market in the country today is health workers caring for people in their homes. Finding career opportunities also depends on where you live. If you live in Boston, the largest field of work is in universities. If you live in New York City, the largest workforce is in finance. Or, if you live here in Los Angeles like me, the largest industry is entertainment. Whichever opportunity you'd like to pursue, remember these important rules for having a career. The biggest rule is to do something that you have a passion for. Once you choose something inspiring, you must try to meet people in that industry. Meeting these people is not only to find progressive advice for your career, but also the best way to develop professional contacts and find a job for yourself. There are many people here from different industries to advise you and explain their businesses. To all young people here today, have fun and feel free to ask a lot of questions!
