M:  Must you play the music so loud?  I'll have a test tomorrow!

W:  Sorry, I didn't realize you were studying.

M:  Are these treatments really necessary?  They don't seem to be of much help.

W: Just be patient, Mr. Paris. I'm sure  you'll see some results soon.

M: Good morning. I'd like to speak to Mr. Johnson, please.

W:  Mr. Johnson is not at this office today. He's at the head office. He's there on Monday, Wednesday and Friday this week.

W: This movie is so boring! There's no story but a lot of fights and blood.

M:  Just sit down and watch the movie, OK? You will interrupt others.

W: Did you hear that there's a meeting this afternoon?

M: Yes, I did. Do you know what it's about?

W: I think  it's about electing the new monitor.

M: OK,  drop in whenever you like.

W: Yes, I'll do that. Thank you for inviting me to dinner.  It's a nice dinner party and I've enjoyed your cooking.

M: I'm glad you enjoy yourself.

W:  It's 8:30 , Dave, and you're going to be late for the meeting.

M: Oh, my!  I just have half an hour left.  I can't believe I slept for 10 hours.

W: Hello, there. What's wrong with your leg?

M: I hurt my knee while chasing a dog away.  I think it belongs to the people who live between your house and mine.

W: You mean the couple who just moved in last week?

W: What are you worried about, Mr. Lee?

M: About the tigers.

W: Why are you so worried about them?

M:  The number of tigers in our center is increasing by about 10 each year. We are pleased with that, but we can't put them in cages forever.

M: Hmm,  it looks like this tooth will have to be pulled out.  Do you eat a lot of sweet snacks?

W: I did when I was at school. I used to like sweet things.

M:  I'm afraid you are paying the price with tooth problems.

W: Bob, turn off the TV. It's time for bed.

M:  Most of my classmates  say they go to bed after nine o'clock.

W:  Never mind what time your friends go to bed. I say your bedtime is half past eight.  And it's 8:20 now.

W: Pacific Bell. May I help you?

M:  I'd like to have my phone disconnected.

W: May I ask why?

M: Well I've graduated and I'll move to California for a new job there.

W: All right.  May I have your phone number, please?

M: 7765-8769.And my name is Jefferey Schaefer.

W: Mr. Schaefer,  may I have your date of birth, please?

M:It's June 5th,1993.

W: Now,  when would you like it to be disconnected?

M: Tomorrow by 5:00 p.m.

第二组

听下面3段对话。每段对话后有1个小题,从题中所给的A、B、C三个选项中选出最佳选项。听完每段对话后,小题将给出10秒钟的作答时间。每段对话读两遍。

W: I heard a fire burnt out last night in another building.

M: Yes.

W: Did you ever see a fire?

M: Yes, about 20 years ago. There was a big crowd of people watching.

W: Where was that? Somebody's house?

M: No, it was an old apartment building.  It was caused by old electricity wire.

W:  Luckily we live in a new building, now. By the way, can you pick up John from school today?  I have to prepare supper.

W: Hey, Jordan.  Practicing basketball again?

M: Yes.  My uncle Charlie just showed me a few of his moves from his high school days.

W: Didn't he almost turn professional?

M: Yeah. He played on the soccer team and the badminton team, too. The coach said he was the best athlete he'd ever taught.

W: Does he still play?

M: He plays on the weekends, and sometimes he helps me train a couple of times a week.

W: Do you think you will play in university?

M: Of course. But it's not easy. I need an athletic scholarship. That means I have to practice seven days a week.

W: What do you work on recently?

M: Using my left hand to bounce the ball between my legs.  Here, I bet you can't take the ball from me!

W: We're glad to have Kevin here with us this evening. Kevin works on the coast of Washington.  Part of his work is to rescue whales, fish, and seabirds when they get into trouble with pollution.  Welcome to the program, Kevin.

M: Glad to be here.

W: What do you do in your job?

M:  I spend a lot of my time with sea animals, trying to learn what things they need in the environment. If we know what they need, we can help them survive in the future.

W: Can you tell us something about the disaster a short time ago?

M: The whales, small fish, and birds all suffered in that disaster. The birds had oil on their wings, so they couldn't fly. And they couldn't eat the fish because the fish were covered with oil.

W: Why did you choose this job?

M: I am always interested in the world of the ocean and how animals fit together in their system.

W: Thank you, Kevin.

M: My pleasure.
