M: How much does it cost to rent a midsize car?

W: You can rent one for $25 a day or $160 a week.

M: Fine. I'd like to reserve one for 4 days next week, from Monday to Thursday.

A donation from a well-known writer has helped enable the children from the needy family to read more books. The program is launched by Scholastic Book Clubs, which aims to bring books to 32,000 poor children from kindergarten to eighth grade.

As a company that prints educational materials for children, Scholastic has publishing rights in the U.S. to books like Harry Potter and The Hunger Games. Judy Newman is the president of Scholastic Book Clubs. She says people in many communities can't afford books. So her company needs to come up with an alternative to their present system, because every child needs to be able to choose and own books! They are grateful and delighted that they could run the new program with the donation of $1.5 million from the author James Patterson. In fact, Patterson has already donated more than $10 million to teachers and students through Scholastic. 

Patterson says he has supported the promotion of reading for many years. He believes the ability to read is of great significance for the country. He adds that the program will bring books to those schools and communities that need them the most, and ones they haven't served before.
