W: The paintings we saw in the museum were fantastic.

M: Indeed. So shall we go back to the hotel now?

M: My job is so boring. I really don’t like dealing with customers in reception.

W: Really? Maybe you should try something new.

M: I don’t know. I’ve always wanted to be an architect, but I’d have to go back to school.

M: I don’t think so. The traffic report says a bus has broken down and that there’s a jam on the freeway.

W: Then I guess it will be quicker to take the subway.

W: So my brother Jim has just finished his first week at university.

M: Oh yeah? How does he like it?

W: He loves it! It sounds like he’s found his crowd already.

 

 

W: How do you like the movie? I heard it has amazing special effects.

M: I really enjoyed it. It’s about a scientific experiment. A family is given a magic drug, and they will sleep for 100 years. It’s all about what happens when they wake up, and how the world has changed.

M: That’s my big headache. My former partner Jerry quit, so I’m looking for a new partner.

W: Maybe you can ask David. He’s quite reliable and has much free time.

M: The gallery opens at 10 am, and the "Family Welcome" event runs from 10:30 am until 2 pm. They’re going to show a short film that the gallery has produced. Last time, there was a film about painting, and they’re now working on one about sculpture.

W: OK. How long does it take to get there by car from the airport?

M: About 20 minutes, but parking is very limited, so it’s usually much easier to go by bus.

W: And what other events happen in Burnham?

M: There are three free concerts taking place at different times. And they range from pop music to Latin American music.

W: The Latin American music could be fun. What time is that?

M: It’s being repeated several times, in different places. They’re performing in the central library at 1 pm, then at 4 pm in the City Museum, and in the evening, at 7:30 in the theater.

W: Hello, everyone. I'm glad to be here with you. My video-making course began when a friend invited me to go to see her father at work in a TV studio. While I was there, the camera operator let me try filming and it was amazing. I wanted to learn more, so I persuaded my parents to let me sign up for a film course. The course ran every Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. It lasted from September to May with a break in December, and then we had some extra sessions in the afternoon when we reached the final month of the course. We worked in groups. I was with some really nice people and we created videos about various things. We even filmed our own plays. We didn't need any equipment — there were enough computers and cameras there. The things we had to bring were batteries we needed. At the end of the course, I got a certificate. I'd really recommend this course to anyone who wants to make great short videos. I'm sure you will enjoy the course.
