Welcome back, class! I hope you all had a good holiday break. I know some of you went on a ski trip to the French Alps in the east. This semester in physics, we're first going to learn all about the forces involved in that sport. By the time you go on your next skiing adventure, you'll be prepared to improve your performance! Others of you spent time at beaches in southern France to escape from the cold. Besides swimming, some of you probably dived. We're going to learn about these kinds of activities in physics class this spring too. How is it different from swimming in a calm pool? How does diving equipment work? How long can someone hold their breath if they aren't using oxygen tanks? Students, this is really going to be an exciting semester! All of the abstract ideas that we've studied so far will be brought to life! In addition to snow and water sports, we'll also study track and field. Now, if you do a sport that I haven't mentioned, please write it down for me and I'll make sure we cover it in class. I want physics to be meaningful for each one of you!
