W: That's true.

M: Another good idea is to leave a light on in the house, but it's important to remember that thieves are not stupid. I know a lot of people who leave their hall light on, but are there many people who spend the evening sitting in the hall?

M: Leave a light on where you would normally be, let's say, in the living room, or in the bedroom. That way it looks as though you were actually in the house. As an extra safety measure, you could leave the radio on, or the television. Don't leave it on too loud, though, or your neighbors won't be too happy — especially if you are late home!

M: Hi! Bob Richards here. Short videos are becoming increasingly popular these days. To make videos attracting people, you do need some tips. Here's my advice to get you started. Do your research! Find out what kind of videos people are into right now by searching for popular videos online and then choose your style. Everyone loves watching animals doing funny things, watching people teaching cooking, but the ones with the most likes are often music videos.

Next, think about how you can make something bigger, better and different, something that you and the people you know would like to watch. Your audience will also want to get to know you and you should avoid being a joker or a film star, just act like yourself.

Practice making very short high-quality videos first. Tell your friends about your videos and ask them for their opinion. However, aim to upload at least 10 good ones before letting them know about your channel. You'll need to create a video for this which attracts attention.

Make sure you upload new videos with new information at least twice a week. Choose a day and let the people who follow you know. To increase the number of people watching your videos, your title should be unusual — as always, try to be a bit different but make sure you have a description, and it's clear.

Many people give up after two or three months because nobody is watching, but attracting a large audience takes time, often two or three years. It's hard work, but definitely worth it!
