M: Yeah. According to the new school rules, we can dress as we wish on Tuesday and Wednesday.

W: I’m going to get myself new shoes after school. Would you like to come with me?

M: I’d like to, but I’ve already had an appointment with Craig for dinner tonight. Hey, why don’t you join us? After the meal, we can go shopping. I’m sure Craig needs some T-shirts, too. Since I’ve got a bit fat, I’d like to get a few pairs of new pants.

W: Great! Class starts in ten minutes. Let’s hurry up.

W: Kevin, have you got any plans for dinner tonight?

M: Er, maybe a piece of frozen pizza with a glass of cola.

W: Come on. Kevin, you know frozen food will do you no good. I think we can cook a meal together. It takes some time, but it’s relaxing and healthy. What do you think?

M: Good idea! More importantly, it costs us less.   But I’m totally useless at cooking.

W: No matter. You can be my kitchen helper. What kind of food would you like, spicy, sweet or bland?

M:I’m in the mood for something spicy. I’m really tired of all kinds of traditional British food. They’re a bit tasteless. It seems the English know little about seasonings.

W:  I take your point. How about Sichuan food or curry?

M: The latter would be nice. I’m in the mood for some Indian food.   I’ll wash the vegetables.

W: Hi, I’d like to buy a camera.

M: Okay. What kind of camera would you like, a film camera, a video camera, or a security camera?

W:I want to keep a vlog about my daily life, so a video one may suit me fine.

M: Yeah, vlogging is very popular among young people. Then what about this one? It attracts many vloggers for its big memory and underwater filming. It can save you from possible trouble when you video all kinds of fishes.

W: Sounds nice. May I give it a try?

M: Sure. There you go.

W: Mm...It’s really good as you said. How much is it?

M: $750. But we offer a 10% discount for all video cameras today. So it’s $675.

W: That still goes over budget.

M: Well, how about this one? It has the functions of Wi-Fi and quick focus.   What’s more, it’s on sale for only $450.

W: That’s exactly what I need. These two functions can save me much time. I’ll take it.

M: Carol, you’re finally home. There’s good news. Mom will go back to school!

W: Wow, I’m so glad to hear that. She majored in finance at college, because our grandparents thought it would be easy for her to get a job.   But I know she has always been interested in history and literature.

M: That’s it. She has been accepted into Stanford University as a graduate student to study archaeology. Moreover, she has won a full scholarship and doesn’t need to worry about tuition fees.   Mom is my real idol. I should study hard and follow my dream as well.

W:I’m afraid Mom couldn’t handle household chores and study at the same time. Look, the house is in a mess, especially your bedroom. You ought to help with the housework.

M: Indeed. But I have to go to the library to do my part-time work now. Can I tidy it up when I’m back?

W: Well, I will help you do the cleaning this time. By the way, could you send this letter for me on your way to the library?

M: Thanks, Carol. That’s all right. I’m in no hurry.

Here is a piece of news from someone loving both animals and art. There’s a pig called Pigcasso on a farm in South Africa. She’s a pig who loves to eat and roll in the mud. But she’s also one of the world’s most famous young artists. Her paintings sell for thousands of dollars. As a piglet, Pigcasso had a black future. She was raised on a big farm to be killed for meat. An animal rights activist named Joanne Lefson rescued her in 2016. In order to keep her new piglet busy, she threw some toys into the pen, including some paintbrushes. Pigcasso ate or destroyed everything except the brushes. So Lefson taught her to paint. Before long, Pigcasso earned her name. It came from the famous Spanish artist Picasso. In 2017, a lawyer from New York visited the farm. He bought a painting for about $500. And Pigcasso’s fame spread quickly after that. Next year, she had an art show in South Africa. It was the first show ever by a non-human artist.

Experts say pigs are smart creatures. They have good memories, and they recognize how other pigs are feeling.Lefson hopes Pigcasso can make people think a little differently about the animals they eat. She wants them to realize that, "There’s more to pigs than bacon."
