W:Yes，but I've seen many goats and cows next to the road. They aren't comfortable in this heat.

M: Put the radio on and enjoy the view.The music will make you better.  We're quite safe.We're better equipped than most people to deal with any problems that might arise.

W:Do you find it difficult to travel across the city with a disability?

M:Sometimes，but there have been a lot of changes.

W:What about if you go out of the city to somewhere in the countryside?

M:I have tried,but I tend not to go too far out of the city on my own anymore.

W:What is the biggest difference between the city and the countryside?

M:Areas in the countryside have fresher air and nicer scenery，but they are a lot less accessible.I sometimes cannot get through doors or up hills. Our city is very urban and flat,so I can go quickly around from one place to the next or ride an elevator up.

W:How did you come to lose the use of your legs?  

M:In a motorbike accident.We were driving across the country to do a mountain hike and a car came out of nowhere on a narrow road.  

W:Do you miss riding your motorbike?

M:I miss a lot of things，but I miss running the most.

W:I am sorry to hear that.Everyone needs to help the disabled.

I'm English and I often wonder what Chinese students learn in their history lessons.Do they learn that the Chinese traded goods with the distant Roman Empire?   Silk from China was important for the Romans，while glass and silver were taken to China. In Britain，we mainly learn about British history but our country was once part of the Roman Empire.The Romans controlled Britain in 43 AD and ruled for hundreds of years. They controlled the areas now known as England and Wales，but they never ruled Scotland and Ireland. In fact，the Romans built a wall across the country to keep the Scots out — Hadrian's Wall.They also built a shorter wall called the Antonine Wall.Both were no match for the grand Great Wall of China.   Many of Britain's towns and cities were founded by the Romans.They even used baths and toilets.Many of the roads they built are still in use today.   Rome is in Italy，but its influence can still be found all over Europe.
