M:Yes.Do you have these shoes in size seven?
W:I'm not sure.If you can't find them on the shelf, they may be out of stock. But let me look in the stockroom.

W:Have you been working out?
M:Yeah, as a matter of fact, I've been going to the gym for half a year by now.
W:I can tell. You look really healthy. And no more beer belly.
Text 4
M: Excuse me, but can you tell me when the museum is open to the public?
W: It's open from 10 am to 5 pm, Monday through Saturday. It's closed on Sunday.
M:Thanks. I'll have to be here tomorrow.
Text 5
W:Look, Jane's dress looks funny.
M:I wouldn't say that.It looks fine to me.
W:Are you kidding? It's behind the times. That style went out last year.

Text 8
W:What do you want to do now?
M: I want to be back to the hotel.
W: But it's only three o'clock.
M: I'm worn out. We've done a lot of sightseeing.
W: We will have plenty of time to do shopping. The stores won't close until six o'clock.
M: No, I want to rest for a while. We're going to the theater tonight, you know.
W: Of course, I know. The play starts at seven o'clock. When we finish shopping, it will probably be just after six.
M: Then where shall we have our supper? And in that case, shall we have enough time to get to the theater by underground railway?
W: No, but we can take a taxi. It's more expensive, but it's a lot easier.
M: Will our money see us through our tour if we spend money like that?
W: Oh, sorry. I didn't think of that.
Text 9
M: Beautiful day, isn't it?
W:Yes, it is. We haven't had such a nice day for a long time. It's a perfect day for outdoor sports.
M:Yeah. I love it. Well, what are you going to do today?
W:I'm not sure. Maybe we'll go for a bike ride. I have been looking forward to this.
M:Sounds great. But make sure you don't go too far.
W:Why not?
M:Well, it's still winter. The weather is always changeable at this time of year. Last time when we went out for a bike ride, we got caught in a heavy shower, and we were 50 miles away from home! And later both of us caught a bad cold.
W:That's terrible. I will take your advice. Safety is the most important thing after all. Thanks for your reminding me.
Text 10
I still remember my first job interview on Wall Street. The interviewer asked me where I got my business sense.Like the other male applicants before me, I was about to say my father who was the breadwinner in the family, when I thought I got it all from my mother. While my mother was a full-time housewife, I realized her ability to quickly judge people's character, find creative solutions to problems, organize complex efforts and manage money helps me do well in my business career.Whenever my mother was asked if she worked, she was always saying, "No, I'm a housewife." Somehow, with no aid from her husband or the children, she managed every day to clean the house, make the beds, prepare our meals, drive us to school, and run a house on a tight budget. She also raised my two sisters, one brother and me who all went to Harvard. What my mother did in everyday life has influenced me a lot and given me a business sense.
