M:Oh no. I've been in the classroom working over my composition. What's new?
W:It says that all the students are banned from going swimming in the river without a teacher's permission.
M:I think it is right, for it is very dangerous to swim in the river without a teacher's guide.

W:Because with a teacher there, we can't play games in water.
M:But it is much safer now.

W:Well, I usually spend about twenty dollars on a gift. Do you have anything nice for that price?
M:How about a pencil box?
W:No, my brother gave him that for his birthday last year.
M:Well, would he enjoy a book on how to play computer games?
W:No, he is good enough to write a book himself. He loves playing computer games.

Text 10
Nicholas MacMahon is only four years old but is now studying at college because he is too clever for school.
Nicholas spoke well before he was one.At eighteen months he took telephone messages for his parents. At two he began to learn French. The strange thing about Nicholas is that he taught himself to read before he could speak.
His parents knew immediately when he could read. When he could speak, he corrected his spelling. He tried two different schools, but he was bored and unhappy because he almost couldn't learn anything special. His parents did not have enough time to prepare special lessons for Nicholas. The MacMahons had no idea what to do with him. Then the West London Institute offered to help.Nicholas spends some of his time there, and also studies at home.He reads newspapers every day, and he can play the violin well.He doesn't have any social life in the school.Nicholas is a clever child and the teachers want to help him in every way.
