M: I'm in a hurry to send the letter back!
W: Where are you going, sir?
M: Harvard University, please. Is it far from here?
W: Not far. It's about ten minutes' drive.

W: Send an ambulance as quickly as possible! My husband is having a serious headache!

M: Well, when I first met her twenty years ago, she was already eight.

M: Good morning, madam. What can I do for you?
W: Coffee, thanks.
Text 6
W: Tom, I feel very nervous about the English speech contest tonight.
M: Me, too. Everybody is. It's very common.
W: How can I relax?
M: I think the best way is to practice before the contest. If you are confident, you will feel much more relaxed.
W: That's a good idea. It's only 3:00 pm. We have two hours to go. Let's practice some more.
M: OK. Let's begin now.
Text 7
W: What's your plan for the weekend, Ken?
M: It will be a comfortable weekend. I plan to sit on my sofa all weekend and watch the DVDs I've just bought. I might finish watching Merlin.
W: I don't know how you can do that all weekend, Ken. If I were you, I'd get bored.
M: I know, but that's really what I want to do.
W: I really think you spend too much time indoors. Why not spend some time outdoors?
M: I really should, but I don't want to change my plan for this weekend. I'll go out next weekend.
Text 8
W: Excuse me, I've been waiting here for 10 minutes. Do you know how often the No. 636 bus runs?
M: It runs every 15 minutes. You must have missed the last one.
W: It seems you got here just at the right moment. Do you have a bus schedule?
M: Yes, I do. You can buy a bus schedule.
W: I see, thank you. By the way, is this the right bus for the museum?
M: Yes, it is.
W: Do I have to change?
M: No. The museum is the last stop of this bus.
W: Thanks a lot.
Text 9
W: Who's your best friend, Tony?
M: Well, I guess it's David. We've been going to baseball games together for six years.
W: Oh? And how did you meet each other?
M: Well, it was really interesting. You know, David is a police officer. One day, I was late for a baseball game, and I was in a hurry; and he stopped me for speeding. As he was writing me a ticket, I found out that he was a big baseball fan, too, so we arranged to go to a game together the next weekend. I still had to pay for the speeding ticket, though.
W: What's David like?
M: He's really interesting and has a great sense of humor. What about you? Who's your best friend?
W: Oh, Daisy, I think. We met in a bookstore in Italy about four years ago. She's a really creative person. She writes stories.
M: Oh, I'd like to meet her sometime.
W: Would you? Well, I'm planning to see her next weekend. Maybe you can come with me.
M: Yeah, that sounds great.
Text 10
The workers at the wildlife center receive baby animals, including birds and rabbits. This is the busiest time when the workers care for and raise all the little ones before sending them back into the wild.
There are many reasons for these little animals' coming to the center. Maybe cats or dogs take little birds away from their nests. Sometimes people catch baby animals and keep them at home, giving them food that they are not used to. Most people don't realize that it's against the law to get live animals out of their nests.
As for birds, people often find them on the ground in their yards, thinking they have no other choice but to leave them on the ground to die. This is because many people wrongly believe that once a bird is touched by a person, its mother will not take it back. But that's not true.
If a little bird falls out of the nest, you should check whether it is injured. If not, you should put the bird back in the nest. If the bird is injured, call your local wildlife center quickly.
