Text 1
M: Do you enjoy life in New York?
W: No, I don't. I'm planning to move to Chicago or Boston. But I've never regretted my earlier decision.
Text 2
W: Why did the old couple sell their house here?
M: Because they wanted to live somewhere warm. They were tired of the snow all year round.
Text 3
M: Amy, lunch is ready.
W: Wait for a moment. I am sending an e-mail.
M: Come on. I have to attend a meeting in half an hour.
Text 4
M: I think I'll order the chocolate ice cream because I didn't eat lunch earlier today.
W: No dessert for me.I can hardly get into my jeans.
Text 5
M: This T-shirt is lovely. I will buy a blue one for myself and a white one for my wife.?
W: We also have pink ones.
M: Then give me a pink one too.
W: OK.The price is $10 for each.
Text 6
W: Fifteen minutes to get there! And these suitcases too! I think we ought to take a taxi.?
M: Not at this moment. Look at the traffic. It is moving very slowly. We can get there just as quickly on foot.
W: Well, I can't possibly carry this suitcase any farther.
M: Let me take it.
W: Don't be silly. You can't carry your case and mine as well.
M: Yes, I can. The cases aren't that heavy. Hum!
W: You see! They're heavier than you thought!
M: Perhaps it is not a bad idea to take a taxi after all.
Text 7
M: Where did you go?
W: Well, I went to Japan. Here are some pictures. I took a boat ride when we were in Tokyo. I visited Tokyo Tower. It is the second-tallest building in Japan and I took photos of the temples, Disneyland and ...
M: I must say they're quite beautiful.
W: And then we left Tokyo. We went to Kamakura, and we saw the famous Great Buddha there.
M: That's a big attraction there. And you have pictures of that, too?
W: Oh, yes. Here you are.
Text 8
M: Can I help you?
W: Yes, I want to fly to Chicago on Wednesday the seventh and return on Friday the ninth. How much is the ticket?
M: Tickets are cheaper if you stay over Saturday night.
W: Thanks, but unluckily I've already arranged some business here that Friday. I also want to visit a distant relative. So I'll just have to pay the extra cost.
M: What time of day would you prefer? Morning or afternoon?
W: Morning, because I have to be there by early evening. Is there a meal?
M: Yes, they'll serve breakfast, and you'll also see a film.
W: Sounds good. But what's the total cost?
M: Eight hundred and fifty dollars round trip.
W: That's more than I expected!
Text 9
W: It's been so cold these days. They say there'll be a heavy snow next week. I can't wait to get out of here.
M: Oh yeah, that's right. You're going to Australia this year to visit your family. When do you leave?
W: In several months, but first, I need to finish my degree. If I can find a job there, great. If not, I can always come back.
M: Australia must be the perfect place for a biologist. Have you ever been to the Great Barrier Reef?
W: Yeah, when I was a kid. It's what got me into biology in the first place.
M: I'm glad you're doing something you love to do.
W: Yes, it makes all the work I put in that much more rewarding.
M: Well, I'll be sad to see you go. If you do come back and need a place to stay for a while, you can always stay with me.
W: Thanks, that's very nice of you.
Text 10
W: I'm looking for a small apartment or maybe a small house. It is about 60 square metres, nothing big. I only need two bedrooms, one for me and the other for guests. One bathroom will do, and to be honest, I hardly ever cook so the kitchen doesn't have to be very big. It's really important that I don't want to be looking at just another apartment block. An apartment in front of a park would be perfect but a top floor apartment would do fine. Then I would like it to be near a transport system because I don't have a car and use public transportation all the time. I'm single and have no kids so schools are not important. And there is just one other thing — I do a lot of work on the Internet and so I would need a convenient network. Do you think you have anything that matches my requirements?
