M: Have you ever seen a lake of seven colors? If you haven’t, you can go to Qinghai Lake, the largest salt water lake in China.

Qinghai Lake lies in the northeast of Qinghai Province. It shows different colors in different seasons, and even at different times of a day. That’s why many people think it is magical.

Qinghai Lake is also famous for Bird Island. It is home to thousands of birds in spring and summer.

Grasslands and tall mountains all around make the lake even more beautiful.

W: Yes, but part of my family is in Canada, part is in England, and part is in Italy.

M: How interesting! How long are you staying there?

W: I’d like to stay for 20 days, but I have to spend 12 days in Germany. So there are only 8 days  left.

M: What happened then?

W: I’m your good friend, Mary. I’d like to tell you a strange thing that happened to me. One morning, when I woke up at about 4: 30 a.m., I was very thirsty so I went to the kitchen and drank some water. It wasn’t very dark so I didn’t have to turn any lights on. Everybody else was still asleep with their doors closed. When I went back to my bedroom, I heard a strange noise, like somebody coughing in the living room. I thought it must be my grandfather because those days he had got a bad cold and coughed a lot. I thought maybe he got up to take some medicine and I wanted to help him to get some water. Then I went to the living room and there was nobody there. I was scared. I ran into my bedroom quickly and turned on the light. At first, I couldn’t fall asleep. About an hour later, I finally fell asleep.
