W: Let’s head home. I’m quite hungry! I have to get something to eat.
M: Oh, we haven’t seen the entire museum yet! But we can come tomorrow. Let’s go.
W: Jimmy, you’re from Canada, right? Why did you decide to move to China?
M: Well, I originally came here for education. After I graduated, I received a great job offer. So, I decided to stay here.
M: Why are you standing there with the refrigerator door open? Are you searching for some food or drinks?
W: Neither. I’m just too hot. The fan stopped working minutes ago.
W: Ow! Oh, no! Barry, come quickly! My neck hurts!
M: Ah, you’ve got a little wound on the back of your neck. Don’t worry, dear. I’ll take you to the doctor’s right now.
W: Your pictures are amazing! I can’t stop looking at them.
M: Thanks. I always try to wait for the right moment.
W: Who taught you how to use a camera?
M: I taught myself, and it wasn’t too hard.

W: What on earth are you eating?
M: This? It’s a double cheeseburger with bacon.
W: But what about your goal of losing 10 kilograms? You did so well!
M: Oh, I’ve given up on that. And forget about my another goal of reading one book a month.
W: Have you seriously given up on all of your goals after only three weeks?
M: Not all of them. There’s one that I’m still working on.
W: And which one is that?
M: To do more of the things I love and fewer of the things I hate.
听下面一段对话,回答第8至第9两个小题。现在你有10秒钟的时间阅读这两个小题。
M: I think we should take a trip this weekend. How about Hangzhou? We could rent a car or go on a hike to West Lake.
W: Yeah. That’s an option.
M: Hmm, you don’t sound the least bit excited about Hangzhou. So I guess this idea is out.
W: Well, we did just go to Hangzhou last fall. I wouldn’t mind going somewhere new. What about somewhere further, like Hong Kong or Macao?
M: That could be fun. But to get there, we’d have to take a plane from Hangzhou. But you can’t stand Hangzhou.
W: Not that I can’t stand Hangzhou. It’s just too soon to visit it again.
M: OK. Let’s go to Hong Kong then. You could do some shopping there.
听下面一段对话,回答第10至第12三个小题。现在你有15秒钟的时间阅读这三个小题。
W: Mr. Liu, thank you for taking time to talk to me today. The audience are very interested in your latest design.
M: My pleasure! I’d be happy to answer whatever questions you have.
W: Thanks. Your latest project seems very different from your previous works.
M: Yes, this project handles different demands than most of my previous ones. I’ve never designed a library before.
W: What challenges have you faced?
M: A library is a place where people come to read, and you also need to store a lot of books there. So there needs to be a balance. This is the biggest challenge. Meanwhile, I want to let a lot of light into the building, so it can be a nice place for people, even the elderly to spend time in.
W: Do you think the project will be finished by next year?
M: Yes, the work is coming along quickly now. We’re looking forward to the opening ceremony in March.
听下面一段对话,回答第13至第16四个小题。现在你有20秒钟的时间阅读这四个小题。
W: Mark, would you like to share your story about learning to say your first word?
M: OK. Though most babies said their first words when they were about 10 months to 1 year old, I did that a little later, when I was about 18 months old.
W: How did you learn to say your first word?
M: Well, every time a truck went by, I shouted a word that sounded like "truck". But to everyone else it sounded nothing like it.
W: What did others think you were saying?
M: Something like "suck" or "duck", maybe. My parents tried to correct me, but failed.
W: What happened then?
M: About 3 months later, as we were waiting for our plane at the airport, I looked out of the window and saw the largest truck I’d ever seen. I turned to my father and screamed, "Truck! Truck!"
W: How did he react? Did he tell you it wasn’t a truck but a plane?
M: No. He did his best to shut me up. But I was so excited that I kept screaming my special word. My mother was so annoyed that she even walked away for a while. Well, I was talking just like a normal child. However, my parents will never forget the first word I pronounced in my life.
W: That is really an interesting experience, Mark.
听下面一段独白,回答第17至第20三个小题。现在你有20秒钟的时间阅读这四个小题。
Hello, boys and girls. If you’re a high school student aged 15 to 18, consider spending your summer at our college. You can live and learn alongside students of your age from around the globe while you explore a variety of college-level courses. Our summer programs help prepare high school students both academically and socially for their college experience. You’ll get to explore a beautiful town, research promising college majors, meet with advisors, and gain valuable skills. There is a two-week program and a seven-week program to choose from. During the two-week program, you’ll live on campus. You can study topics like law, philosophy, science, and writing. You’ll attend class for three hours a day and participate in meetings and events. These will help you think more critically and communicate more confidently. The seven-week program is like real college life: classes, homework, and activities. Unlike the two-week program, you’ll be able to take your class credits to the college in the future. You can take one or two courses and choose whether to live on campus or study online. Join us this summer!
