W: Did you feed Frank today?
M: Yes, I did. I also gave him a bath.

M: How about playing some of the records you bought this afternoon?
W: Impossible.
M: Well. What happened?
W: I put them on the bed where I could see them, then left to have a drink but when I came back, I sat on them.

W: Dear me! Somebody's been leaving the lab door unlocked.
M: Don't look at me!
Text 5
M: Did you get anything from the duty free shop?
W: Well, I looked for the bear toys I’d promised to get for Tony. Unfortunately, they’d sold all of them, so I had enough money for a handbag for myself. But I forgot about the chocolates for Mary.

M: Jessica, what a wonderful dinner! That's the best meal I've had for a long time.
W: Oh, thank you!
M: Shall I help you with the dishes?
W: Oh, don't bother. I'll deal with them myself later. Hey, would you like to have some coffee?
M: Thanks a lot, I'd love to. Uh, would you mind if I smoked?
W: Not in the slightest. Here is the ashtray.
M: Thanks very much... Oh, Jessica, I didn't realize you were such a good cook.
W: Well. It's because I've taken some courses on cooking.
M: That's a good idea. I wish to improve my cooking skills.
W: You'd better take a couple of classes on cooking.

M: Hello?
W: Mr. Anderson?
M: Yes?
W: This is Temporary Jobs Agency. You called us several weeks ago asking for a job.
M: Uh-huh...
W: We have a two-day job for you if you’re still available. It’s a fund-raising party at the Grand Hotel.
M: Absolutely yes.
W: They need you there at 12:30 tomorrow. If you don’t drive, they’ll pick you up at 11:00 at the City Hall.
M: I’ll drive there myself. Thank you very much!

M: Have you decided how much you’re going to ask for your flat, madam?
W: Not yet. Oh, I’m totally at a loss where to start.
M: Well, you need to consider several factors, like the size, location, condition...Um, how big is your flat?
W: Two bedrooms.
M: That’s not very big. Is it downtown?
W: Yes. It’s just a block away from the Finance Center.
M: Well, that certainly adds to its value. Is it in good shape?
W: It was built in the 1990s, but we’ve just had it redecorated.
M: You also need to consider the prices of other flats in the neighbourhood.
W: Sure.
M: Can you decide on the offer price now?
W: Um, probably not. I’d better talk with my husband first. Thanks for the information, though. I’ll contact you when we have decided.

M: Hello, and welcome to our program "Working Abroad". Our guest this evening is a Londoner, who lives and works in Italy. Her name’s Susan Hill. Susan, welcome to the program. You live in Florence. How long have you been living there?
W: Since 1982. But when I went there in 1982, I planned to stay for only 6 months.
M: Why did you change your mind?
W: Well, soon after I arrived in Florence, I got a job at one of Italy’s top companies, Ferragamo. So, I decided to stay.
M: How lucky! Do you still work for Ferragamo?
W: No. I left there in 1988.I’ve been a free designer since then. I’ve designed things for some Italian companies as well as two American companies. And in the last five years, I’ve also been designing things for the British company, Burberry.
M: What have you been designing for them?
W: Mostly handbags and sometimes shoes and leather jackets.
M: How’s your industry changed since 1982?
W: It’s become a lot more competitive because the quality of products from other countries has improved a lot. But Italian quality and design are still world-famous.
M: Well, thank you for talking to us, Susan.

Attention, everyone! If your son or daughter signed up for soccer, then please listen up. As you know, there are five age groups planned for this year:5-6, 7-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14 and up. Unfortunately, we did not have enough kids who signed up for the youngest group to make enough teams. I'm a parent of a soccer player myself, so I know how you must feel. The good news is that there are a few parents who are willing to volunteer to run soccer camps on the weekend in a more informal way for the youngest players. You would need to sign some paperwork and arrange your own transportation and appropriate clothing for each weekend, but at least your kids will have the opportunity to play soccer every week. For more information, please contact the soccer coach Steve Wollinsky at 425-7660.You can also add your name to a sign-up sheet that is posted on a wall next to the bathroom. If you do so, please leave your phone number and email address as well. Thanks for everything.
