M: Yes, all are out. I’ve asked Professor Giler twice already to bring in additional copies of the articles, but no sooner had I placed them on the shelves than they were gone.

W: Actually I was hoping to read some this afternoon.

M: I’m sorry, but all I can suggest is that you come in to wait tomorrow morning before we open and try again. We open at eight.

 M: What’s the best way to get to the zoo apart from driving a car, Claire? They charge a high price for parking at the zoo. I think it’s about five or six dollars an hour.  

W: Yeah, Kevin. That’s too much. The tickets are going to cost twenty dollars, and it costs almost the same amount just to park your car there! And there might also be much traffic on the roads. 

M: Is there a subway station nearby?

W: Well, it takes about half an hour to walk to the nearest station on Fifth Street.  

M: Oh, that’s not close at all. What about buses?

W: You can take Bus No.11 on Grant Street, which is about 5 minutes’ walk from here. The bus service on weekends is pretty bad. I think it goes every 20 minutes or so.

M: None of these options are very good. What would you suggest?

W: How about cycling there? It’s eco-friendly and also helps you work out. 

M: That sounds workable.

M: I do love music. But I just can’t be a full-time student and still do band practice every night. You know, I’ve failed to catch up with my classmates. I want to go to a good college. I'm afraid I won't make it if I keep playing in the band. And my parents are worried about that, too.  

W: What do others in the band say? They must feel regretful.

M: They are very sorry about my decision to leave, especially the lead singer and the drummer, for we are good friends. But they respect my decision. And luckily, they’ve found a new guitarist to take my place. So next time you go to watch the performance, you’ll see the new guitarist.  

W: I think you’ve got your priorities right. Study should always come first for a student.  

M: Thanks, Lily. Anyway, have a good time this Friday night.

W: My writing career began ten years ago. As a beginner, I was happy to be on my way. With two little kids underfoot, as well as working full-time, it was really difficult to make time for writing at first, but I managed. Readers told me they laughed about my articles. But they didn’t know what was going on behind the computer. I was not a real happy person any more, and could barely enjoy little, everyday things. I realized I had to make some changes. I started walking every morning, which cleared my head and allowed me time to think. I started a new job and joined a monthly writing club. I tried to keep a balance and fit in writing because it made me happy. I wrote one article at least every day. And I again have readers telling me the various effects my writing has had on them and wondering how I could “create so many wonderful works”, with some wanting to get on with their own writing. The answer is simple:It is just easy and enjoyable to do what you love.
