Text 1

W: I hope you can come to the party on Saturday.

M: I didn't know I was invited.

W: Sure you are. Everyone in our office is invited.

Text 2

W: The wind has come. I must go and get the windows closed.

M: You go first. I need to finish planting the roses before the rain starts. We won't have sunny weather until next week. That's good for the newly planted roses.

Text 3

M: Do you think the film is true to the book?

W: Yes, I'm proud to say I took part in the film. The filming involved a lot of hard work. I was in the make-up room every day for three years and some of the scenes took ages to get right.

Text 4

M: Excuse me, can you tell me when the museum is open to the public?

W: It's open from 10 am to 5 pm, Monday through Saturday.

M: Thanks. I'll have to be here tomorrow.

Text 5

W: In Brazil they have a festival that the whole country participates in. It's called "Carnival". A lot of world travelers attend and people wear fancy clothes and dance happily.

M: If I was going to travel all the way there, it would be to see what kind of meals they would serve.

Text 6

W: How many boxes do we still need to pack, Gail? We've been packing all day.

M: Wait a moment.Let me see…We still have to do about ten more.

W: Well, I'm really tired of packing all of the stuff all day.And it's about time to go home.

M: I know. Maybe we can finish it tomorrow.

W: Why not? These orders are not urgent. We could do it first tomorrow morning.

M: All right.Let's stop here and go home.Remember we must do it tomorrow.

W: No problem.

Text 7

W: Good morning, I am thinking of going for a vacation this year with my family. Can you suggest a great destination?

M: Of course. Where are you planning to go?

W: I want to go abroad, preferably to Europe. Which place can be visited during this time and has the best weather?

M: There are many places you can travel now in the month of April to May. One of them is definitely Europe. The season is amazingly good as the climate is neither very cold nor too hot.

W: Which countries should be added in the package if I decide on Europe?

M: You can add Switzerland, Italy and France to your package. Also, you can add England to your package. However, there will be additional costs for that.

Text 8

W: African culture is far older than European culture or even Asian culture.

M: What proof is there for this if you don't mind me asking?

W: Not at all. There are several reasons based on data. The most interesting are cave paintings discovered in the desert. We have dated them to several thousand years before those found anywhere else in the world.

M: Interesting. What are the other reasons?

W: Well, we have found remains — bones, pots, entire settlements. There is a strong argument to be made that this is where human life began.

M: I would need to look at the data, but if what you say is true, it is a significant discovery. I'm anxious to hear more.

Text 9

W: Mount Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain in Africa. Climbing it is no small task, especially for a group of seven who are all disabled in some way. Here we have the youngest climber Mike to share his experience. How do you feel about the climb, Mike?

M: It was a lot more difficult than we had expected, but we kept going and made it.

W: Why did you attempt to climb such a high mountain?

M: We regarded this as a chance to prove the human spirit.

W: Really a tough journey. What did you do in times of difficulty?

M: We turned to each other for inspiration as we continued on the way to the top.

W: So did you keep a record of the adventure?

M: Yes, we kept a diary of our troubles online.

W: How long did the adventure last?

M: Thirty days and we succeeded in reaching the top on June 5th.

W: Getting to the top was definitely the high point. Thank you, Mike.

Text 10

W: Hi, everyone! My name's Lily and I'm a swimmer. I'm talking to you today because I want to encourage you to take up swimming. It's a great sport. It isn't expensive and it keeps you healthy. I learnt to swim when I was about five. I didn't learn it at the local leisure centre, but in my uncle's pool. When I started primary school, I joined a swimming club and I went swimming twice a week. I had a lovely trainer called Anna. She encouraged me to enter competitions and I did quite well. Nearly every Saturday a group of us from the swimming club went to other towns to have competitions. That was fun. After I'd won quite a lot of competitions, I moved into the advanced class at the club and I had a trainer who was once an Olympic winner! He wanted me to receive training every day after school for an hour and a half. My parents didn't agree because I needed to spare some time for my schoolwork. But they let me go three days a week. I love swimming and I would really recommend it to everyone.
