测试一

Text 1

M: If Sam had not fallen in the men's one hundred meter final, he would have come first.

W: Yeah, he was hurt and so far behind all the other players, but he managed to cross the finish line.

Text 2

W: Honey, come and see my new painting I've finished.

M: Wow, it really catches my eye. The colors are so bright!

W: It adds a nice touch to the house.

Text 3

M: Mom, I'm starving.

W: Here, have some biscuits. Why are you back so early today.

M: My teacher had a sudden stomachache, so the class was cut short.

Text 4

W: Peter, how is the weather now? Is it still raining?

M: No, but there are still lots of clouds. The weatherman said the sun wouldn't come out until next week.

Text 5

M: Mary, how are your Chinese lessons going?

W: I'm learning very slowly. It's more difficult than English.

M: Well, do more practice. Rome wasn't built in a day, right?

Text 6

W: Hello, Mr. Green. This is Mary speaking. I would like to see if I can meet you today.

M: Hi, Mary. I am afraid I have an important meeting to attend today.

W: Well, what time would be convenient for you, then?

M: How about Thursday morning?

W: I have a dentist appointment then. Is the afternoon OK?

M: Well, how much time do you need?

W: About half an hour.

M: OK. The earlier, the better. I have to prepare for my daughter's parent-teacher meeting at 5:30 pm on Friday.

Text 7

M: Have you heard about our school's new project — Sports Week?

W: Yes. Do you have any ideas? We should hurry up because the project will start next week.

M: What do you think about inviting famous athletes to meet with local students? Athletes would tell their stories and give some interviews.

W: Personally, I think we should invite our town leaders instead. Inviting famous athletes or actors will cost a lot. We should also arrange some kind of mini-Olympics on our playground.

M: Yeah. That's a great idea! Oh, I have to go. I need to bring these newspapers to the teachers' office. Let's talk about our ideas on our way home together. Bye!

Text 8

W: Hello, Simon. Where are you?

M: Hi, Janet. I'm home.

W: Why? I didn't notice you were not here until the teacher called your name but nobody replied.

M: I was about to call the teacher.

W: I heard that you fell when climbing the mountain last weekend.

M: Yes, I did. I nearly hurt my leg, but luckily there was nothing serious. What made me lie in bed was my cold after that. I was running a fever. It was much colder on the mountain.

W: Oh, have you gone to see the doctor?

M: Without the doctor's permission, how dare I stay at home during school hours? I can take two days' leave.

W: Please take care of yourself and I can help you with the leave.

M: It's very kind of you, Janet.

W: My pleasure. I'll hang up. Bye.

M: OK, I'll take my pills. Bye.

Text 9

W: How is little Ed doing at the kindergarten, Jack?

M: Oh, he's doing fairly well. It's been three weeks since he first started going, so Macy and I are pretty used to it now. You should have seen Macy cry when Ed was about to set off on the first day, though.

W: I think that's a normal reaction. You live quite close to the kindergarten, don't you? How does he get there?

M: Macy walks there with him every morning unless the weather is bad. When it rains, Macy will drive.

W: What do the teachers at the kindergarten say about him?

M: They said he's bright, and that he's starting to learn how to tell time. Isn't that fantastic?

W: That is fantastic. It sounds like everything goes well.

Text 10

M: I was walking around the other day when I saw a sign for The Bookworm. It's a really cool cafe that has great food, and sometimes it has music and other special events. Well, I happened to hear that Peter Hessler was going to be speaking at 7:30 that very night. Peter Hessler is probably my favorite writer at the moment. He used to write about China for The New Yorker, and he also wrote 3 books about his experience living and working in Beijing. I was so excited to hear him speaking that I went right over to The Bookworm at 7:00, took a seat at the bar, and waited for him to arrive. I waited and waited, but he didn't show up. Finally, at 8:30, I asked one of the staff when Peter Hessler was supposed to be there. “Peter Hessler?” he replied. “He's not supposed to be here tonight. He was here last month, though.” It was then that I realized my mistake. I had come on the right day, but not in the right month!
