Qizi Bay used to be a desert in Hainan Province. It hardly had any living plants. In the past, when a storm hit, the sky was filled with sand. This became a problem for local fishermen.

People quickly realized they needed to plant trees in Qizi Bay. Tao Fengjiao and a team of women farmers decided to try to grow trees in the area. They faced many difficulties, and many people believed it was impossible because of the local conditions. However, after years of great efforts and government support, Tao and a team of local women achieved their goal. Now there are about 6 million trees in Qizi Bay. In 2021, the local government opened a museum to tell the story of these women's great work. Tao is now one of the guides at the museum.
