W:I heard you haven't been feeling well lately. What's wrong?

M: I don't seem to have any energy. I feel tired all the time, and have trouble sleeping.

W:Then you'd better have a checkup and get some professional advice.

W: What can I do for you, sir?

M: Well, I hate to say this, but I'm really not happy with my room. The sound of the traffic kept me awake last night.

W: Oh, I'm so sorry, sir. I'll change a room for you.

W: Hi, Jerry. The school year is almost over. What is your plan for the summer holidays, travelling or learning something new?

M: I'm planning on staying at home all day!

W: Oh, come on, Jerry, you must be kidding!

M: Haha. Actually, I'm going to go down to Guizhou Province to enjoy the beautiful views there.

W: May I help you, sir? 

M: Yes. I'd like to reserve a table for six couples for about 7:00 pm, please. 

W: I'm in a hurry. Can I take a bus or subway instead?

M: In that case, taking a bus may be a better choice. See the restaurant on your left? There is a bus stop in front of it. You can take the No.19 bus. Remember to get off at the third stop. Then go straight and cross the road when you see a bank. The post office is sitting opposite it. I believe you can get there in ten minutes.

W: Here is the card for Room 319. And breakfast is served from 7:00 to 9:00.

M: And how about dinner?

W: Dinner's served from 6:30 to 8:30. You'd better hurry, because the restaurant will close in 15 minutes.

M: Thanks.

W: Now, I'm with Frank Irvine. Frank, were you born in Britain?

M: Actually no. My father is from Austria and I was born there.

W: When did you start getting interested in making pots?

M: Well, as a child I was into engines. But by the time I was about twenty I was aware that there might be something else I wanted to do.

W: So, what did you do?

M: I started travelling. I wanted to follow in my father's footsteps. So I went to India, where I met my wife.

W: Then who taught you the skill, your wife?

M: No. I saw her father making pots when I visited them. And eventually I was allowed to have a go. He taught me without reservation. Then I started using very, very high temperatures to produce some pretty unique effects.

W: And did you start doing this quite some time ago?

M: Yes, I've been going about this since the 1970s. I started with quite small home objects, like small bowls. Then I tried to make larger objects, but still something that might find its way into a home, rather than a museum. After 1979, I got on with producing some being used outdoors, so they got bigger and bigger. And many people like them too.

W: They certainly do. Well, thank you very much for your coming here today, Frank.

M: You're welcome.

M: How did the second interview go?

W: I really prepared thoroughly for this one. Although I was asked a lot of tough questions about the company and the job, I presented my ideas perfectly. I thought I really impressed the interviewers. They gave me a job offer on the spot!

M: That's great! What will you do for them?

W: I will have several duties to perform, such as organizing meetings and presenting plans to customers.

M: Do you mean that you will have to give speeches?

W: Yes, something like that. I will give formal presentations. I have to admit I'm a bit nervous about that.

M: I'm sure you'll do fine.

W: I'll have more to do than that. I think I'm going to be very busy. Could you give me a few tips?

M: You'll have to learn how to manage your time well. It means you should know what are your most important tasks. You should spend most of your time on the most important projects. I'm sure you'll adapt to your new job well. When are you going to start?

W: In two weeks. I'm really excited about it!

听下面一段独白,回答第18至第20三个小题。现在你有15秒钟的时间阅读这三个小题。

W: Last spring, I visited Mexico City to see ancient art in the museum there which some of my friends had recommended. I was surprised how well I managed to get around, even though I didn't speak a word of Spanish. You just had to be able to make the right decisions in difficult situations. 

The manager of my hotel gave me a map of the city and told me that the best way to get to the museum was by subway. I didn't know where the nearest subway station was, but I was sure I would find it if I walked for a little while. After an hour, I was still walking. I was completely lost. Just then, a policeman came over and showed me the nearest station. However, when I got there, I looked at the subway map on the wall and didn't know which line to take. In fact, I even wasn't sure which station I was in. Most people would give up their initial plan in that situation, but not me. After I thought about it, I knew exactly what to do. I went upstairs and took a taxi.  Finally, I got to my destination successfully and had a great time admiring excellent artworks in the museum. 
