W: What other courses did you choose?

M: That is a must for all students.I think you might find Information Systems helpful.

W: Is that about computer programs?

M: Some of it is, but it’s also about databases, project management, and other things.

W: Oh, this course sounds as though it would suit me. I’m going to apply.

M: Can I help you?

W: Well, I have a friend in Spain and her two daughters are coming to the city to study for two months. Can you recommend some hostels?

M: Of course.I usually suggest Global Hostel.It is a big hostel in a residential area, but it’s only ten minutes from downtown if you take a bus.

W: Sounds good! How much does it cost?

M: The price is $50 a night. But if you become members, the price comes down to $41 a night. Membership costs $35. Members can get cheaper entrance tickets to museums, and also discounts on bicycle and car hire.

W: Is it very noisy？

M: Ah! I think it is quite noisy as it’s a really big hostel.

W: It might not be ideal for them. What else can you recommend?  

M: There’s Oak Hostel. It’s on the beach. The rooms are a bit more expensive. The price is $62 a night. It’s well-known as it’s one of the oldest in the city.

W: Hm... they’d like that but it is a bit far from their college. Is there anything a bit cheaper?

M: Well, what about Backpackers’ Hostel？ It’s in the entertainment district. Only $35 and another $5 if they want to have breakfast.

W: Well, that’s really helpful. I’ll pass all this information on now.

I’m Sarah Brown, and I’m here to tell you about my job as a weather forecaster. I first worked as a journalist for a television company for two years.Seven years ago I became a weather forecaster.Since our news and weather services go out all round the world, we all take turns to work at night. I prefer that to doing the show when I have to get up at four in the morning. Before doing a weather forecast, I study data on the computer. This is the information I use in my forecasts. There isn’t much time to learn what I have to say, but fortunately I’ve never forgotten my words so I don’t get nervous.Because I’m on world news, people sometimes recognize me in really distant places. Once, in an Indian village, an old man took me to have my photo taken with all his family. I got some lovely letters — One person wrote to say that my smile made her feel happy all day. I took up flying as a hobby five years ago. I hope to get my pilot’s license this year. For exercise I like running. I’m really proud of myself for running in the London Marathon and I never thought I could manage it! My husband plays tennis, and we sometimes play together, but he plays better than me.
