M: The Flaming Mountains, also known as Huoyanshan, are in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. These mountains are famous for their bright red colour, looking like flames under the sun. The Flaming Mountains are important in the Chinese novel Journey to the West. During the summer, it can get very hot, sometimes over 70°C. This makes it one of the hottest places in China. The mountains are made up of red sandstone, giving them their unusual colour. Many visitors come to see the beautiful landscapes and take photos. It's also a fantastic place to learn about Chinese culture.
