Text 1

M: It's the weekend again. Do you have any plans for tonight? How about going dancing?

W: Well, dancing is the last thing I want to do.

Text 2

M: I've decided to grow vegetables in my garden.

W: That's a good idea, but you don't even know the first step in planting.

M: On the contrary, I have been reading some books about it.

Text 3

M: Mr. Lee always says my handwriting is not good enough, so this time I really wrote slowly and carefully. But look at the score!

W: Well, look at the positive comments on your handwriting. Your problem is about the organization of your essay this time.

Text 4

W: What can I do for you, sir?

M: I bought this skirt here for my daughter. She likes the dark red color and style, but it's too large for her. Can I change it?

W: Sure. Wait a moment, please.

Text 5

W: That's the first film I've seen with an interval. It was hard to work out what was happening and the break even made me forget the actors' names.

M: Indeed. They kept playing the same song, but it added to the atmosphere.

Text 6

W: I want to get some more information about our Caribbean cruise.

M: It's really a great deal. Eight days and seven nights for $ 3,200 per couple. This includes all your meals and round-trip airfares.

W: That is a pretty good deal, but I'm having trouble convincing my husband. He says there's nothing to do on ships.

M: Well, have you told him about the Caribbean Star? This ship has three swimming pools, a tennis court and a volleyball court. It even has a gym.

W: Oh, I'll talk it over with my husband.

M: And here's a video you can show him as well.

W: Thanks.

Text 7

W: Paul, what took you to South America? Was it to improve your Spanish?

M: Well, I just wanted to find out more about the way people lived there. My spoken Spanish was already pretty good.

W: I see. How did you do that?

M: I found an agency that runs voluntary projects. Construction and teaching English were good options. Then there was tourism, which I actually chose, and then there was work with local farmers.

W: Quite good. Well, I look forward to hearing more about your experiences.

Text 8

W: Hello, George. This is Victoria. I'm just calling about the prices, from the three hotels, for the conference. Have you got copies of all of them?

M: Yeah, they're here on my desk...somewhere.

W: Could you e-mail them to me?

M: Uh, I can fax them. I've only got hard copies.

W: OK, fine.

M: I've got to attend a meeting in about a quarter so I'll send them now.

W: There's no rush. This afternoon is fine.

M: No, no. I'll send them now.

W: OK. Then maybe we can discuss them later today.

M: Sure. I'll be in the office all afternoon.

W: OK. I'll come to your office this afternoon, then.

Text 9

W: Mr. Green. I see you are now working at the university teaching program development.

M: Yes.

W: It says here that you are developing language lessons for the computer. So why are you interested in our company?

M: Well, the project that I'm working on is going to end in a few months, but I have become very interested in the field and would like to continue it.

W: But right now, you are developing software. If you worked for us, you would be selling software.

M: Yes, I understand that. I've been working recently on testing the program on students, and I've learned a great deal from that process. That means I can explain the product in a convincing manner.

W: Very good! All these work experiences would be an advantage. Do you have any international travel experiences? For this job, we would be sending you abroad.

M: Well, I've travelled to Asia twice. I went to China once and Korea the other time. I have always wanted to go to South America.

W: Argentina might be your choice then.

M: Wow, that sounds fascinating.

Text 10

W: This is Radio Oxton. A historic building in central Florida was destroyed early Sunday when it was crashed into by a tractor-trailer, according to a report. The accident happened at the Desert Inn and Restaurant in Yeehaw Junction. The small town is near Okeechobee. The police said Mareo Cawley was carrying orange juice at about 3: 15 am when he didn't realize he had left the road before he ran into the building. Nobody was injured in the accident. The site was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1994. Photographer Michael Brown took pictures of the accident and posted them online. He added he didn't know what happened, but losing another piece of history made him sad. The building was first built as a trading post in the 1880s, according to the Florida Department of State. The present building dates back to 1925. It once served as a restaurant, gas station and dance hall a few years ago. It was shut in 2018, according to reports.
