Text 1

M: Today is Tuesday. I will return the book next Monday.

W: Take your time. You can keep it for another two days.

Text 2

W: What's up, Michael? You look down today.

M: I got a "C" again in the maths exam. I don't want to let my parents down. But you know, I tried my best.

Text 3

W: I've heard that there is a restaurant selling sushi next to our company. Do you like sushi?

M: Oh, please, I feel terrible, eating sushi. If the restaurant has chicken or meatballs, I would like to go, though.

Text 4

M: How do you like your new house?

W: I like it very much. It's really big and well decorated. I couldn't have expected a better one.

Text 5

M:Where did you take this picture? It's beautiful!

W: I took it in Hawaii. I love travelling. Last month I went to New York University and this weekend I will travel to Washington.

Text 6

W: Hi, Ryan, it's nice to see you again. I heard you have been travelling a lot recently.

M: Yes. In the past six months I've been all over Europe. And I just came back from Paris.

W:Wow. You must have had a good time.

M: Not exactly. It wasn't about sightseeing or visiting friends. It was for business. In fact, I was getting tired of hotels and hotel food. Sometimes I just wanted a home-cooked meal. I really missed the comforts at home.

W: I can imagine. East or west, home is best.

Text 7

W: Have you heard of Yo-Yo Ma?

M: Of course. I'm a big fan of his!

W: Oh, really? Is he a singer?

M: Not really. Yo-Yo Ma is one of the finest and most popular cello players in the world. He has been playing the cello since he was four years old.

W:He's really hard-working. Could you tell me something more?

M: No problem. Yo-Yo Ma was born in 1955 to Chinese parents in Paris. His family later moved to New York City. Now he has a new album called Appassionato.

W: What does the album's name mean?

M:The word "appassionato" is an Italian word used in music. It means powerful emotion.

W: That sounds interesting!

Text 8

M: Hi, Grandma! I'm calling to say happy birthday. I hope you're having a good day.

W: Thank you, Michael! It's great to hear from you. It's been a while since we've talked.

M: I know, Grandma. I'm sorry. I've been so busy with school and activities lately. I'm captain of the basketball team this year. And I'm also applying to colleges for next fall.

W: Oh, Michael, I'm so proud of you! You're a very accomplished young man. Do you know where you want to go to college?

M: I really want to go to the University of Southern California, but they might not let me in! It's a very good school, and it's very difficult to be accepted there.

W: Well, I'm sure they will take you, honey. You're a special young man. You've really made your grandfather and me so proud.

Text 9

W: Tom, did you say you had a party yesterday?

M: Yes, it was my wedding party. Why didn't you come?

W: I would have liked to, but I didn't know about it.

M: I sent you an email last week. Didn't you get it?

W:No. Oh, you know what? My computer got a computer virus and I couldn't open a webpage.

M: What a pity! We were serving your favorite food.

W: I'm sorry. Yesterday I planned to stay at home and watch a movie, but Mary came and asked me to go camping, which turned out to be an awful experience. We got lost.

M: Oh, that's terrible.

W: How about going out for lunch this week? I want to do something for your wedding.

M: That's really nice of you. We can talk about it later. I have an appointment with my client now. W: OK. See you.

Experts suggest using several different ways to search for a job. The Internet is very popular nowadays. Richard Bolles wrote a book about finding a job called "What Color Is Your Parachute?" He says there are three things you should do first to find a job. You should write a resume that covers your education, skills and work experience. Next, Mr. Bolles says you should publish your resume on a website called a job bank. Usually, job listings will be sent to you by e-mail. If the listings include a job you like, the third step is to call or e-mail the company. The employer may ask you to meet to talk about the job. Major national websites such as monster.com or hotjobs.com are also very popular.

Job fairs are organized events for employers and people who are looking for jobs. In different areas of a large room, representatives provide information about their companies. You can go to each area to ask questions about the companies.

You can also go to your local community library. You can find information about companies and job listings by using computers, newspapers and magazines.

Of all these ways experts say network is the best to find a job.
