【新北师大版】教材帮选择性必修第一册模块综合测评

Text 1

M:We have to go to London for a couple of days. I prefer to go on the train, but I suppose you want me to take the car.

W: You got it. Then we don’t need to get to the station with our luggage.

Text 2

M: Did you just see a ghost or something? You look frightened.

W: I just saw the horror movie The Final Destination. It really scared me.

Text 3

M: My refrigerator is 15 years old and it’d worked just fine until last night.

W: You’ll never be able to repair it. So it might be time to invest in a more recent model.

Text 4

M: So what should we do first?

W: How about the cake and ice cream?

M: OK, let’s light the candles. Well, and make a wish! Don’t tell me.

Text 5

W: I’m very grateful for what you have done for my daughter.

M: That’s all right. That’s my job.

W: I know she has brought a lot of trouble to you. Thanks.

M: No trouble at all. By the way, keep her in bed for two weeks.

Text 6

M: Do you happen to have any aspirin?

W: Toothache again?

M: No, I’ve got a terrible headache this time.

W: I’m sorry. Actually, I do know a really good natural cure for it.

M: Oh, good. I’ll try anything.

W: Take an onion and cut it in half. Then put the onion halves on the sides of your head, and then tie a towel around your head just to keep them where they are. It’s a little smelly, but it always works.

M: Hope I will get better soon.

Text 7

M: Oh no! I can’t find my wallet!

W: Your wallet? How is that possible?

M: Yes. At the movies, I had paid for the popcorn and drinks. Did I leave it there?

W: No, I don’t think so because you gave me $10 for the hot dogs later at that new hot dog place.

M: After that we went to the convenience store. I paid for the chocolate there.

W: Yeah. And then you paid for the taxi ride back home. Right! I know where you left it!

Text 8

W: You’ve probably made a lot of records. Have you ever made a record on your own?

M: Yes, last summer. I made it in the summer and it came out in September. It’s called Groove Approved.

W: And is it doing well?

M: Quite well, especially in America. My records are often played on radio there — more than here in Britain.

W: And so this has been a busy year for you?

M: Yes. I’ve had a very busy year. I’ve toured the States twice. I’ve made my own album and I’ve done a tour of Germany.

W: And something you’ve forgotten! You’ve had a number one record.

M: That’s right! It was called The Living Years. It was number one in Britain and in America.

Text 9

W: Good morning, sir. What can I do for you?

M: Good morning. I’d like to reserve a hotel room.

W: That should be no problem. May I have your full name, please?

M: My name is John Sandals.

W: Hello, Mr. Sandals. My name is Michelle. When do you need that reservation?

M: I’m planning to visit New York from Friday, April 14 until Monday, April 17, which means I’ll be staying in the hotel for 3 nights.

W: Well, do you prefer a smoking or non-smoking room?

M: Non-smoking, please.

W: Is a larger bedroom OK?

M: That sounds fine.

W: Our room rates recently went up. Each night will be $308. Is that okay with you?

M: That price is reasonable.

W: OK, Mr. Sandals. Your reservation is on our computer. All we need now is a phone number.

M: Certainly. My phone number is 626-555-1739.

W: Thank you for your reservation by telephone, Mr. Sandals. We look forward to seeing you in New York!

Text 10

Hello, my name is Sally Croft, and I’m here to tell you about next month’s trip to France. First of all, a lot of you have asked what the weather will be like next month. Well, it will be cool in the evening, so I recommend that you take a sweater with you. During the day, temperatures will be high so don’t forget your sun cream, your sunglasses and of course your swim suit.

The hotel we are staying in will provide shampoo and soap. Toothbrushes and toothpaste are your responsibility, though. Meals are served in the dining room on the first floor as follows: breakfast is served from 6:30 am to 10 am; lunch is available between 12:30 pm and 2 pm and dinner is from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

And a final word about travel documents: You will not be allowed to enter France without your passport, so I think that’s about all. If you have any questions about the trip, I’ll be in the coffee bar all morning.
