W: I hope you enjoy the rest of the flight, sir. Don't forget to fill in your landing card.

M: Thank you.I really appreciate your service.

Text 2

W: Your friend is here, David. Should I invite him in?

M: No, Dad is waiting in the car to drive us to the game. Just tell Jeremy I'll be out in a minute. OK, Sal?

Text 3

M: I wonder if our children will still be able to breathe clean air, drink clean water and see a blue sky.

W: Yes. I think it's time that man should learn to live in harmony with the earth instead of destroying it.

Text 4

M: Hi, Maria. How was the party yesterday evening?

W: Oh, Dan.To tell you the truth, it was a disaster.

Text 5

M: I heard the company is sending you to Germany for the new project.

W: Yes. It's been a long time since I was there, so I guess it's time to practice my German.

Text 6

M: It's Mom and Dad's wedding anniversary next month. Shall we hold a party for them?

W: I don't think that's a good idea. Dad hates parties. And anyway, I won't have time next month. I need to study for my exams.

M: Then, let's take them out to have dinner at a restaurant.

W: Great! And we can buy some gifts for them. How about going shopping this Sunday?

M: OK.

M: May I help you?

W: Me too.I'm working in the sales office. How long have you been working here?

M: About six years so far.

W: You must like it then.

M: Yes, it's a good company to work for.The staff is friendly and the benefits are great.

W: What do you think about the boss? Is he really strict? I hear that sometimes he loses his temper easily.

M: No, he's quite the opposite. He's easy-going. Sometimes he gets angry, but usually forgets about it later.

W: Oh, I guess he is a nice person.I see the photocopier. Thanks for your help.

M: Oh, Anne, that was a wonderful dinner. That's the best meal I've ever had.

W: Thank you.

M: Can I give you a hand with the dishes?

W: I'll do them myself later. Would you like some coffee?

M: Thanks a lot.I'd love some.Oh, Anne, I didn't realize you were such a good cook.

W: It's because I've been taking these courses. Actually, I've just learned how.

M: I can't cook at all and I can't even boil an egg.

W: You're kidding.Well, if you want, you could take several classes at college and learn how to do it, too.

M: Forget it.I was not born for that.Oh, I just remembered.I wonder if I could possibly use your phone.

W: I'm sorry, but there's something wrong with my phone. It doesn't work.Is it really important?

M: Well, you see, I have to call my secretary about tomorrow's work plan.So I'm afraid I have to go now. Thank you for your dinner.

W: You're welcome.Good night then.

Text 9

W: Hello, Ben. You're getting ready for tomorrow's lessons, aren't you?

M: Yes. But I'm a little bit nervous because I have no idea how to get along with my classmates.

W: I understand how you're feeling. Just take it easy. You'll make a lot of new friends very soon.

M: Thank you. I am sure that I will. By the way, what time will the first lesson begin?

W: At 8 o'clock. But before that we have 10 minutes to hand in homework and then 20 minutes for morning reading.

M: So we must get to school before 7:30, right?

W: Right.

M: Well, I hear that lunchtime is nearly 12 o'clock and I'll be hungry by then.

W: Don't worry. During the break after the second class, we can buy something to eat.

M: That's good.

W: Good afternoon, everybody, and welcome to the Manor House Museum. Before you go around, I'd like to tell you about some of the interesting things we have for you. Here in the entrance hall, you can see some old photos of the town. Over there in the Ford Room we have some pictures of gardens painted in Italy. The colors of the flowers are really beautiful. On the upstairs, there are our famous clocks and they all tell the right time. The oldest one is four hundred years old! You may like to buy the guidebook to the museum — it has many color photographs and it costs one pound and fifty pence for an adult, and only one pound for a child. Our museum is open until 5:30 p.m. every Tuesday and Friday. You have lots of time.Enjoy your visit.
