Text 1

W: I'd like to return this shirt, please. It is too small for my son. I would like to return it and buy this dress for my daughter instead.

M: No problem, madam. Come this way, please.

Text 2

M: He is very famous in Europe, right?

W: Yes, but actually his songs and movies are not so good.

M: That's true. I once saw one of his movies; it's really boring.

Text 3

W: What are you watching?

M: A Mr. Bean show. It's old, but it's really funny.

W: I love the old shows. Good shows never go out of style!

Text 4

W: Hello, Jason? This is Megan.

M: Hi, Megan. How are you?

W: I'm fine, but Jack is sick. He's got a sore throat and a cough and he's staying home from school. So he can't go for your piano lesson this evening.

M: Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. I hope he'll be better soon.

Text 5

W: Do you still play the guitar sometimes these days?

M: Yeah. But not as often as I used to.

W: Why? Don't you enjoy it as much as you did before?

M: Yes, it's still one of my hobbies. I'm just busy with my studies these days.

Text 6

M: Hi, Vanessa! How was your weekend? Was it good?

W: It was great! I had a fun weekend. I went to see a special device show in London.

M: Sounds interesting. I'm free next Saturday. I'd really like to see it. How did you get there?

W: I got there by bus, but you can take the underground. It stops just outside.

M: What did you see?

W: The Games Hall. It was interesting. The 3D Theatre is my favourite and there is also a large Test Space. I got very tired walking around all day.

Text 7

W: Hello, Tom! Where are you going?

M: Hello, Julia! I'm going to visit Mr. Green.

W: Is that box heavy?

M: No, it's light.

W: But it's filled with books! Can I help you?

M: Of course. Could you open the door, please?

W: OK.

M: Thanks. By the way, I have two tickets here for tonight's film. Would you like to go with me?

W: That's great!

Text 8

W: Excuse me, sir?

M: Yes?

W: Can I ask for your opinion on something?

M: Sure, what can I help you with?

W: Do you think I would look better in the blue or the red dress?

M: I don't think either one is good on you. I think you should try on the yellow dress.

W: But I hate the color yellow.

M: Then maybe the purple dress would look nice, too. And it's on sale now, so you can get a big discount.

W: I don't like purple, either.

M: Then I don't know how to help you.

W: Okay, thank you all the same. I'll go to shop around somewhere else.

Text 9

W: This weather must be quite a change from what you're used to, Kyle.

M: Oh, yes. I didn't see any snow in Manila. This is awesome!

W: You should see the snow in Toronto. It gets a lot deeper there than here in Vancouver.

M: Really? My father has to clear the road in front of our house today. Then we will use all the snow to make a snowman. It is almost five inches deep!

W: According to the weather forecast, we will have another two inches by the end of the week.

M: It is so beautiful. When it started snowing last night, I sat by my window for at least an hour watching it. It was so exciting!

W: I agree. My parents say the roads can get really dangerous, though.

M: Oh, I never thought of that.

W: Personally, I hate it when we lose electricity. Sometimes it lasts for hours.

M: Do you think they will cancel school tomorrow?

W: We'll have to wait and see.

Text 10

W: Listen, everybody. I'm going to give you some important information about our trip to the capital on Friday. Firstly, the bus is coming to pick us up from school and we leave at 9:15 am. But don't wait outside the main gate, even if you see the bus waiting there. Come to the classroom first because I need to call the register before we leave to make sure everyone is here. Lunch is provided, so don't bring your own food. You'll get a sandwich, an egg and a piece of fruit. But you need to bring a drink. When we get to the capital, the bus drops us at the sports stadium. From there we'll walk to the Transport Museum, which is our first visit. After that, it's on to the Natural History Museum. In the afternoon, we're going to the National Concert Hall, but not to see a concert or dance because the event that's on is actually not a musical show at all; it's an exhibition of modern art. At the concert hall, there's a large souvenir shop where you can buy presents for your families. Now remember the bus will go at 5:30 pm. So we have to leave the shop at 5:00 pm at the latest to walk back to the parking lot together. Tell your parents we'll be back at school here by 7:15 pm. OK? So I think that's all.
