W: Good morning. Do you sell green tea here?
M: Sure. But why don't you try a cup of our coffee? It's the same price. And the black tea is very popular.

W: How cold it is today! I still have to wear a jacket in May in case I catch a cold.
M: It's not strange. I remember I had to wear a jacket one day in June last year.

W: Did you hear that Mr. Peterson is coming next week, Gordon?
M: Yes. So call all the department heads to my office. We need to give him reports on our program.

W: Wow, that opera singer is fantastic! I could listen to him all night.
M: I prefer rock music. This guy is kind of boring. I bet my mom will like him, though.

W: Mike, I heard you're going to Charleroi. Are you visiting friends there?
M: No. You know, I'm really interested in photography. So I want to look at some great works of photography at Museum of Photography in Charleroi.

W: Hello, Helen Smith speaking. Can I help you?
M: Hello, this is David. Could I speak to Mike, please?
W: I'm afraid he's not available at the moment. Would you leave a message?
M: Yes. I'm calling to cancel a meeting we scheduled for this afternoon.
W: Okay. Let me take this down. Could I have your name again?
M: Certainly. It's David Stone.

W: Jim, have you gone to see the apartment advertised in the newspaper?
M: Yes. I went to have a look at it this afternoon.
W: So how is it?
M: The apartment is in good condition. And I really like the color of the carpet in the sitting room.
W: So how many bedrooms does it have? Two or three?
M: There are just two bedrooms, but there is also a small room used as a study.
W: How is the kitchen?
M: It's quite small, but it's well equipped.
W: So have you rented it?
M: No. The rent is 850 dollars a month. So I want to keep looking.

W: Do you have any plans during this summer?
M: Well, I want to get a summer job. I'd like to save money for a vacation.
W: Really? Where would you like to go?
M: I'd love to travel to Latin America. What about you, Melissa?
W: I'm not going to get a job right away. First,I want to go to Spain and Portugal.
M: Sounds great, but how are you going to pay for it?
W: I know I can't ask my parents for money any more, so I'll borrow some money from my brother. I have a good excuse. I plan to take courses in Spanish and Portuguese.
M: Oh, I'm tired of studying!
W: So am I. But I also hope to take people on tours to Latin America. Why don't you come to my first tour?
M: Count me in!

M: Do you mind if I sit here?
W: No, of course not. Go ahead.
M: Don't I know you?
W: Yes. Now that you mention it, I think we had a chemistry class together in high school.
M: You're right! How are you? It's been a long time!
W: What did you do after high school?
M: I went straight to university afterwards. What about you?
W: I took a year off to go traveling.
M: That sounds exciting. Where did you go?
W: I went all over the world. It was the best year of my life. Where did you go to school?
M: I went to a small school in Connecticut. It is famous for its foreign language department. I received some money to study Chinese there.
W: That's a very difficult language to learn, isn't it?
M: It is, but it's very enjoyable. I'll probably be studying Chinese until the day I die!
W: I think most languages take a lifetime to learn well.

W: Good morning, everyone. Now if you're looking for something to do this weekend, why not join in the Bartlow town race on Saturday? The race starts at Bartlow Town Hall and finishes at the football stadium; that's five kilometers. And don't worry if you can't run all that way. Walkers are welcome too!
The race begins at a quarter past nine but you should arrive at the Town Hall forty-five minutes early, at half past eight, to check in and get your race number. There are money prizes for the winners in different age groups and everybody will get a free T-shirt when they finish.
Adults pay $2 each to run in the race. It is only $1.50 for children and students and if the whole family decide to run there is a special price of $5 per family. Be sure to wear comfortable running shoes. And don't forget to bring some water with you — Saturday is going to be a lovely warm day and you may get thirsty. But it'll be lots of fun — see you there!
