Text 1

M: Excuse me, Miss.You can't park here.

W: But it's only for a few minutes, sir. I'm waiting for a friend.

M: This is a taxi park. You can park in the car park round the corner over there.

Text 2

W: David is good at tennis, isn't he?

M: Yes. But speaking of tennis, Mike is the best in our school.

W: I don't think so. Steven is the best because he has got many prizes in matches.

Text 3

W: I'd like to book a ticket to New York on Flight 450 this morning.

M: I'm sorry. The day flight is full now. You only pay $360 if you take the night flight. You can save $40.

W: OK.

Text 4

W: Can I help you, sir?

M: Yes, I've been a bit careless and left my driver's license on a train.

W: Oh dear! Well, let's take some details and see what we can do.

Text 5

M: Do you have any magazines, Mary?

W: Yes, of course. Here are some interesting ones about clothing and fashion. And I still have some about movies and music. Which one would you like?

M: Oh, I just want to read some sports news.

Text 6

M: Hi, Maria. This is John. Can you give me a ride to work this morning? My car broke down late last night, and it's being fixed in the repair shop.

W: I'd be delighted to, but I have to go to work early to prepare for an important meeting. Do you mind leaving 30 minutes earlier than usual?

M: Not at all! I will be ready to be picked up in 10 minutes.

W: OK. I need some time to get dressed before I leave, though.

Text 7

W: Thank you for meeting me, Dr. Freeman.

M: It's my pleasure. I'm glad to be here.

W: Sorry for the short notice, but we're hoping to air this story on tonight's evening news. The producer already briefed you about our interview, right?

M: Yes, she told me we're going to discuss the results of our study.

W: Yes, hopefully the results will encourage more people to recycle and care for the environment. The interview should take about thirty minutes. Are you ready to begin?

M: Sure, let's start.

Text 8

W: What are you studying in college?

M: I'm studying to become a teacher.

W: How cool! My mom was an English teacher. What subject do you want to teach?

M: Well, history is my favorite subject, but I want to be a science teacher.

W: How fun! When will you graduate?

M: Next year. I've been at university for three years.

W: Can you start teaching as soon as you graduate?

M: Yeah. I'll have to pass a test, but that's no problem. I've never failed an important test, so I'm not worried.

W: That is great!

Text 9

W: We are planning to go to Big Bear Lake for the upcoming weekend.

M: Really?

W: Yeah, four of us. Why don't you join us? We're getting to Big Bear Lake on Friday. Then we are going skiing and snowboarding on Saturday. And on Sunday, we are going to do some shopping.

M: You are not going to camp, are you?

W: No, we are not. We will stay in the house owned by my cousin. It is not like five-star hotels, but it will be comfortable and the house is not far away from the skiing site, so it should be a convenient place.

M: Sounds good, but I don't like snowboarding.

W: Then what is your plan?

M: I am just going to stay at home and read some books. That will be a relaxing weekend.

W: I can't imagine you staying with no friends all the weekend. I'd get bored.

Text 10

W: Good morning, everyone. This is Helen Green with What to Do Today on the air. It's quite a warm and sunny Saturday. Now, if you've got nothing to do today, why not go to East Mountain in the city and do some digging? That's the message from Sussex Middle School. It is organizing a tree-planting activity in East Mountain.

Sussex Middle School is a member of the organization Helping Blind Children. It is raising money for poor blind children by planting trees. A famous computer company agrees to give $30 for each tree to be planted in the city. Sussex Middle School is planning to plant 1,500 trees this weekend. Students and their parents are hoping to plant a half of them today. They are looking for volunteers to come along and help. Thick gloves will be provided to protect your hands. There are also hats provided. And please do bring basic tools with you to dig holes and water trees. Everyone is welcome to come along anytime from 10 am to 4 pm this weekend. So it could be really a nice day out for all the families.

This is What to Do Today. Thanks for your listening.
