Text 1

W: What kind of ice cream would you like, chocolate or milk?

M: Neither. Thank you. I like them both but right now all I want is some water.

Text 2

W: I feel so happy on sunny days like this, although it's still cold outside. It's strange how quickly weather can change here.

M: Yes, it was raining heavily a moment ago.

Text 3

W: Jack failed again in the exam. What would you do if you were in my place?

M: If he were my son, I just would not worry. Now that his teacher is going to give him extra help and he is working harder himself, he is sure to do well in the next exam.

Text 4

W: You were running slowly today, Matt. Did you eat a big breakfast before practice again?

M: No. My friends came over last night, and we stayed up late talking. I hope I won't fall asleep in class later on!

Text 5

W: You were so great tonight! I really enjoyed the show. That second song really moved me. Could you sign this poster for me?

M: Sure, I'd love to. Thanks so much for your support and for coming to see me.

Text 6

W: So, Bill, what do you usually do on the weekend?

M: I often go to the movies with friends on Friday night. How about you, Sarah?

W: Well, I love seeing musical plays on Broadway with my friends. Have you been to many?

M: Not really. I saw one when I moved to New York and another when my parents came to visit, but not ever since.

Text 7

M: Where's my red tie, dear? The one I wore at Ann's party.

W: I don't know. All your ties are in the closet. Look for it there.

M: I found it! It's in the bag.

W: You look nice today. Why are you wearing the red tie? Another party?

M: No. An important guest is coming to our company. We'll have a business meeting and sign an agreement. It's a big day for me.

W: It's indeed important. But the tie doesn't go with the white suit. I like the blue tie. Try it on.

M: Mm, it looks much better. I'll tell everyone that my wife chose it for me.

Text 8

M: Hey, Lucy. Do you have some time to talk about next week's trip with me?

W: Sure, Dave.

M: OK.So, we're leaving on Monday from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and returning on Friday. Do we take ourselves to the airport? Maybe we need to book a taxi or just go by bus.

W: No, we don't have to. The company car will pick us up and take us there.

M: Oh, that's good. When?

W: Our flight leaves at 11 am, so they should pick us up between 8 am and 9 am. Besides, the company pays for our trip, including hotels and food.

M: How much will that be?

W: Well, New York is a pretty expensive city, so each of us will get $200 a day.

M: Oh, OK. Thanks for telling me that.

W: You're welcome.

Text 9

M: School is finally out! Do you have any plans this summer, Kate?

W: Yes. In August I'm going on a two-week vacation to the Bahamas.

M: Awesome! How much is that going to cost you?

W: Don't ask. I have to work every single day this month just to be able to pay for the vacation.

M: I know what you mean. I've been saving up to buy a car. I want to have one for the start of my last year of college.

W: That would be nice.

M: Well, it's too bad that you won't be around in August. There's a famous English soccer team coming to town.

W: I heard. At least I'll be able to see the Backstreet Boys in July. It's my favorite band. They're playing at the Victoria Theatre.

M: I've been there. I saw The Jim Jefferies Show there once.

W: You saw that? How did you get tickets? I heard they were hard to get.

M: My friend works at the ticket office. Do you want me to see if he can get you tickets as well?

W: No need. I won mine on a radio show. I had to answer three questions about the band, and I got them all correct.

M: A true fan! You deserve to go!
