W: I often sleep late and I just have yogurt for breakfast.
M: I can't bear the taste of yogurt. I like a hearty breakfast — eggs, bacon and milk.

W: Hi, Luke. Paul and I are going to watch the tennis game this evening. Do you want to come?
M: Great! I know Thomas really enjoys watching tennis games. Can he join us?
W: Well, I'm afraid I don't have an extra ticket for him.

M: When is the latest time for me to board the plane?
W: 15 minutes before the plane takes off. The plane is scheduled to leave at 2:30.

W: I've finally finished my paper. Can you help me check it before I hand it in?
M: Sure. Let's take a look, sweetie. Oh, it's excellent! I can tell you worked hard on it.
W: Thanks. I really did. I just hope my teacher agrees.

M: Hi, Mia. Are you free on December 17th? It's my birthday, and I'm having a party.
W: Sorry, Nico, but I'll be on holiday. We're going to Australia. We'll leave on the 10th. And we won't fly back until January 5th.

W: Who just called?
M: My friend Susan. She said over the phone that my friend Amy had got injured in a car accident.
W: I'm so sorry to hear that.
M: I'm afraid I have to go to the hospital to help look after her. Her parents are in New York now and they can't get back until tomorrow morning. I'm sorry, Melissa, but I can no longer show you around the city.
W: It doesn't matter. I think I can get around with this city map. Besides, you've already shown me to the famous attractions. So just go.
M: Thanks.

W: I have been trying hard to choose a gift for Kate for her birthday.
M: That's been hard for me too.
W: Would you like to go in with me and choose something together?
M: Yes, two heads are better than one. So what does Kate like doing? That might help us choose something.
W: She seems to enjoy listening to music, reading novels, and going to the movies.
M: Maybe we could get her a concert ticket. What do you think?
W: That's a good idea. But we don't know what concert she likes.
M: Jane can help us. She knows Kate very well.
W: You're right. Let's see Jane this afternoon after class.
M: Okay.

M: Hey. Are you interested in buying some used books? You can really save some money that way.
W: Well, what do you have?
M: Many kinds of books. Look, this is a science book called Today's World, and I'm selling it for 30 dollars.
W: 30 dollars? That's a little expensive for an old book like that.
M: Maybe, but I bought it for 60 dollars. Besides, I wrote a lot of notes in the book that can help you study.
W: What else are you selling?
M: Okay, I have an English writing book for 14 dollars, a math book for 23 dollars and a novel for only 7 dollars.
W: Mm, let me see.
M: You know, these things sell well.
W: Okay. I'll take the English writing book and the novel. Here is the money.
M: Thank you. Bye.
W: Bye.

M: Hey, Alana. Is that you?
W: Oh, hi, Henry. What a surprise to see you! Are you going to work?
M: Yes, I am. What about you? Why are you on this train?
W: I'm finishing my vacation and on my way home.
M: Tell me all about your trip.
W: I started in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and visited two huge art galleries. They had exhibitions of the old Dutch painters. After leaving there, I spent some time in Brussels, and then I went to Munich. It's a very interesting place. I visited one house in Munich that was 800 years old.
M: What did you eat in Germany?
W: I ate a long piece of bread. It was very tasty.
M: Did you go to Italy, Alana?
W: Yes. After a few days in Munich, I caught the train going south to Italy and stayed two days in Milan.
M: You really saw everything.

W: Finding an apartment is time-consuming and disappointing, but with a little preparation and most importantly, a lot of patience, you'll get what you want. The first thing you need to do is make some time in your schedule. If you are going to find the apartment that fits your requirements, then unless you're really lucky, you are going to have to spend a lot of time hunting. The next thing is to decide exactly what you want and how much you can afford. Think about what cities or neighborhoods you'd like to live in and what you'd like for your local neighborhood. Write down what features are important to you, such as parking and public transportation. Then you start hunting. Search every website you can find, and start going through the ads. It is probably best to start by picking out all the apartments that are within your price range and then check the location and traffic. Then make the call, but prepare yourself for disappointment. Apartments that look good on the Internet often turn out to be disappointing. And of course, you may find that all the really great apartments have just been taken.
