W: What a surprise to see you here, Frank!

M: Jane? It's you, right? I can't believe it. It's been almost ten years since we last met.

W: Yeah, that was at Lisa's birthday party. You left for France the following day. So when did you come back to the States?

M: Five years ago. I worked in France, got married there, and then after my daughter was born, I came back here with my family. So, why are you here?

W: Oh, I'm here to pick up my son. He's in the piano class. What about you?

M: I'm here to wait for my daughter. She's in the dance class. Do you live near here?

W: Yeah, just two blocks east. What about you?

M: About five blocks west. That's really shocking. We live just about seven blocks away from each other, but we haven't met each other.

W: That's really something. Oh, there goes the bell! Hey, let me get your phone number before all the kids come out.

M: OK.

W: What a beautiful place this is!

M: Yeah. After the grayness of New York, the colors of Hawaii seem so bright.

W: Well, I've been to a lot of amazing beaches in Thailand and Mexico, but this is really one of the nicest ones I've been to. Why don't we go for a swim? I hear there are lots of tropical fish we can see.

M: Good idea. I can use my new video camera — it's waterproof.

W: Wow, where did you get that?

M: I got it in New York a week ago. It's made by a company called GoPro. It specializes in making HD video cameras for outdoor sports. The bodies of their cameras are designed to be extra strong. The camera can handle being dropped, and I can use it underwater up to 60 meters deep.

W: And it's so small and lightweight. How much did it cost?

M: Well, I could have gotten the older model for $200. But I bought the latest version for $300, because it's lighter and has better picture quality. I also spent an extra $50 for all extra battery packs.

W: Well, let’s go so you can use it!

M: Hello. I'm one of your customers but I think you have the wrong address.

W: I can check. Can I have your name, please?

M: Robert Hope.

W: And what address did we have for you?

M: 52 Bell Street, but I'm not living there any more.

W: I find your account, but the address we have is 101 White Lane.

M: That's my office address. I don't know why you have that.

W: If you have both business and personal bank accounts, sometimes the details are mixed.

M: Can I change the address, then?

W: Certainly. What's the new address?

M: It's 64 Rainbow Road.

W: Do you have identification with that address on it, like a passport or a bank statement?

M: Here is my driver's license. Is that OK?

W: Yes, thank you. The address now has been updated. Is there anything else I can do for you?

M: No, thanks a lot. See you!

W: Bye!

W: Thank Mr. Williams for inviting me back. I'd love to share my life experiences after graduation with you. Well, I graduated from here in 2001. When I threw myself into the job market, finding a job was not difficult. Most of my classmates found good jobs in big cities. If I had been born a decade later, things might have been totally different. I finally accepted a job with my current employer, and now work as a translator. I won't say my job is not demanding. Sometimes I'm kept very busy working late into the night. And I also have to travel to other cities to attend some meetings several times a year. But I must admit, I'm happy with what I'm doing, which is related to what I learned at university. That's why I haven't changed jobs for the last decade and a half. In recent years, I have been thinking about trying other things, such as running a coffee shop or a bookstore. But I haven't really set out to do that because any decision I make might pose challenges for my family. I got married five years after I left college. For me, family comes first. Today, you college students are facing a totally different time from what we were presented with ten years ago. Obviously, there are difficulties, but chances exist, and you'll have hope of leading a successful life.
