Three European International Film Festivals
Venice International Film Festival (威尼斯国际电影节)
The Venice International Film Festival is one of the oldest festivals in the world. It was first held in 1932, and takes place every year in late August or early September in Venice, Italy. The Golden Lion Award is for the best film.
Cannes International Film Festival (戛纳国际电影节)
In the world of film, the Cannes International Film Festival is one of the largest international showcases(展示的场合)of cinematic(电影的) art. Every year, for about 12 days in May, the small city of Cannes in southern France turns into a meeting place for cinema’s actors, would-be actors and the people who report on them. Thousands of films are submitted(提交) to the Cannes International Film Festival every year, and only about 50 feature films(故事片) and 30 short films are included in the Official Selection, the main body of work that is the centre of the festival. The most prestigious(有威望的) award given out at the Cannes International Film Festival is the Golden Palm(金棕榈奖).
Berlin International Film Festival (柏林国际电影节)
The Berlin International Film Festival has been held ever since 1951. It’s also one of the largest film festivals in the world. Each Berlin International Film Festival climaxes with the international jury awarding the Golden Bear, the main prize. Films from all over the globe vie(争夺) for the award and a world premiere(首映) in Berlin.
