W: I made the apple pie and the chocolate cake this morning. They’re fresh.

M: I have had your home-made apple pie. It’s really delicious. Can I have a glass of lemon juice as well?

 

M: Have you ever read the magazine Film Focus?

W: I’m afraid I haven’t.

M: What a pity! You really should. It introduces the latest films, great directors and film stars.

 

M: The air conditioning is not working! We need to have it repaired before we start to work here!

W: Yeah. And we should also get somebody to fix the toilet.

 

W: I find it very hard to read the novel you lent me last week.

M: Yes. It’s necessary to have a good knowledge of history. But the more you understand its hidden meaning, the more it interests you.

 

W: I really appreciate your driving me around the city.

M: It’s my pleasure. There isn’t much work today anyway. Besides, I think it’s important for you to find a place with beautiful scenery around to live.

W: Excuse me, I would like to send this package to New York.

M: Would you like to send it overnight or by regular mail?

W: How much is the postage?

M: 23 dollars for sending it overnight and 12 dollars by regular mail.

W: I’d like it to get there tomorrow. So I’ll choose the former.

M: OK. Please fill out this form first and then give it back to me, together with the money.

W: Here are a $20 note and a $5 note.

M: Ah...yeah. Would you like it to be half an hour later or one hour later?

W: One hour later, please!

M: OK. The time has been changed. Anything else I can do for you?

Our class is in Room 11 on the first floor. We have classes twice a week, on Tuesday and Thursday. Our class begins at 3:30 pm and lasts 90 minutes, so we finish at 5:00 pm. Also, I have office hours Friday afternoons from 3:00 to 5:00. I’m in office 6A on the second floor. So, if you have any questions or problems or want to talk to me, you can come to the office 6A during office hours. Our course will begin next week, on April 12th. That’s Tuesday. And it will end on June 16th. Oh, one more thing, for this course you need the book World Literature Ⅰ: Beginnings to 1650. So, please get a copy of the book.
