1.M: Excuse me, is this toy car 30 yuan?

W: Let me have a look. Oh, it's on sale today for 13 yuan.

2.M: Thanks for the dictionaries, Lisa. I've finished using them. Here they are.

W: Hold on, Mike. The red one isn't mine. It's Helen's and her name is on the cover.

3.W: Hi, Kevin. How do you usually come to school?

M: I usually come here on foot, sometimes by bike. How about you, Mary?

W: I live far from school. I often take the underground.

4.M: Have you got any homework today?

W: Yes, I have. But I don't have to do it now. It needs to be handed in on Thursday morning.

M: You'd better do it now. We plan to go to a concert on Wednesday evening.

5.W: Are you going out on your bike now, John?

M: Yes. I'm training for the race on Saturday. It's not raining.

W: I know, but it's still dark outside! Be careful to ride on the road!

  M: Don't worry. I've got lights. I'll be fine.

M: Hi, Judy! I'm excited about Joe's party. What about you?

W: Hi, Jason! I am not really a party person because I'm worried I won't know anyone. But a surprise party sounds fun.

M: What time does it start? Is it at 2 pm?

W: Look at the invitation. It's at 3 pm. So we'd better leave at 2:30 pm. By the way, are you bringing any food?

M: No, I'm bringing some music instead.

W: Oh, cool! Is it rock music? Joe really likes rock.

M: Actually, I'll bring pop music. I think it will be great for dancing.

W: Sounds good! I can hardly wait!

W: Hello? Alice speaking.

M: Hi, Alice. This is Jack speaking. Would you like to take the new dance class with me on Sunday morning?

W: I'd love to but I can't. I've got friends coming for dinner. Remember Sally?

M: Yeah, we sang with Sally last year. Her parents are actors, right?

W: Exactly. Well, the whole family are coming this Sunday.

M: No worries. How about dancing together next week?

W: No problem! I'm really looking forward to it. By the way, what kind of dance is it?

M: It's Latin dance. I heard it's really fun with lots of cool moves.

W: Great! I've always wanted to try Latin dance. See you next week!

M: See you!

Welcome to Old Town! Our first stop is Old Town Park. Across from the park, you'll find the central bus station, where buses go to every part of the city. Now, let's walk straight along Park Street. On the corner of Park Street, you'll see Mary Hospital, a new hospital famous for its modern buildings. Right across the hospital is Town Cinema. It's the best place to watch new movies with friends. Next to the hospital's main entrance, there's a lovely flower shop. It's perfect for buying gifts and fresh flowers. Finally, cross Johnny Street. On your right is Town School. It was built 200 years ago. It's one of the oldest places in the area.

W: What are you doing, Alan?

M: I'm writing a report about the weather in my hometown.

W: Okay. Can you tell me something about it?

M: Sure. It's hot in summer and cold in winter. If you want to visit, you'd better go in autumn.

W: Why can't we go there in spring?

M: Because it may get too much rain. By the way, what's the weather like in your hometown, Amy?

W: Oh. It is much different from that in your hometown. The weather is fine all year round. And it is neither too cold nor too hot.

M: That sounds great. I hope I can visit your hometown someday.

W: Welcome. I'll be glad to be your guide then. We have lots of beautiful beaches, parks and delicious local food. You'll certainly love it!

M: Thanks, Amy. I'm really looking forward to it.

Boys and girls! Are you interested in planting your own vegetables? The field next to the playground will be open for planting from next Monday. All the students are welcome to join the School Vegetable Field Program. In our program, the field will be divided into 18 small fields, which means that all the 18 classes will get one. Each small field is about 3 meters long and 1.2 meters wide. There isn't much space, so you should think carefully before making a decision on which vegetables to grow. Once you plant your vegetables, please make sure to take good care of them. What's more, each class should come up with a name for your class vegetable field. If you have any suggestions, please email us.
