Yu Gong Moves the Mountains

Once upon a time, there was an old man called Yu Gong. There were two mountains near his home. They were so high and big that it took a long time to walk to the other side. So he decided to move the mountains. Yu Gong and his family began to move the mountains. One day, a man in the village asked, “Yu Gong, the mountains are so big. How can you move them?” Yu Gong answered, “I will dig and carry the stones little by little.” The man continued, “You are old and weak. You can never make it.” Yu Gong replied, “Yes, I’m old. But my family will live and grow, and they can continue after me.” So Yu Gong and his family kept on digging day after day and year after year. Finally, a god was so moved that he helped them take the mountains away.

The story reminds us that we should never give up and nothing is impossible if we try to make it happen.
