Should children help do housework?

Whether primary and secondary school students should help their parents do some housework is one of the hottest topics in the educational circles around the world.

Scientists from Harvard University have followed more than 400 teenagers for a long time and found that American primary school students work an average of 1.2hours a day. They concluded that the ratio(比例) of the unemployment rate of the kids who love doing housework to that of kids who don’t love doing housework was 1:15, the crime rate was 1:10, and the average income was 20% higher than that of the children who do not. Besides, the rates of divorce(离婚) and psychological diseases are relatively lower.

In some families, parents give their children "wages" to encourage them to take part in housework. As they grow older, they understand their parents gradually and know that they should take responsibility in the family. It’s wrong for them to get something for nothing. Of course, there are also controversies(争议) about how to motivate(激励) children to do housework.
