W: Hi, Michael. It's Carol. I'm going to change Wednesday's arrangements. Something's come up. Could we do it a day later?

M: Well, the only other possibility would be Friday.  I've got a lot to do on Thursday.

W: OK.

W: It will be about a 20 minute wait if you want to sit indoors. But we can seat you outdoors in the yard right now.

M: OK. I don't have 20 minutes to wait.

M: I'd be grateful if you could do this for me.

W: That depends.

M: I may be an hour late tomorrow. I don't want my family to know, but Miss Jones knows about it and she's OK with it. Oh, and could you give my homework to her tomorrow?

W:How is your new job going?

M:Well, it takes a lot of time to put all the fruit on the shelf. And the shop is open from 8:00 a.m. to 7: 00 p.m.  So it's much more tiring than working 9-5 in an office.

M: It doesn't sound as though we are able to go on our picnic tomorrow as the weather forecast is for storms.

W: That's the first thing in the morning. The wind will blow the storm away by about 10:00 a.m. So it will be cloudy with some sunshine by midday.

W: Have you decided where to take Mr. Brown to dinner tonight?

M: Well, I tried to get us into a private room at Anna's Garden, because the main dining room is too noisy, but the rooms were all reserved.  I made a reservation at Muvi, though, for 7: 30. I haven't tried it, but I heard it is good.

W: I've been there. The food is excellent. It 's right next to that Japanese place, Tami, where we had Joan's birthday party last month.

M: Right. Traffic can be heavy going that way. Let's start out by 6 so we'll be able to arrive there before Mr Brown.

W:You look terrible. Did you have a car accident?

M: Well, not exactly. This morning I went to deliver milk and the garden gate of No. 12 was locked. There was a note on the door of the house and I thought I couldn't read it from where I was.

W: What happened next?

M: I jumped over the fence and went towards the door  and, suddenly...as I was trying to read that note, a huge dog rushed at me. I started running as fast as I could, but I didn't see that...

W: What?

M: The big branch of the tree near the garden gate. I knocked into it.

W:What about the dog?

M: Thank goodness! It didn't jump over the fence but stayed in the garden barking loudly.

W: It reminds me of a movie...a dog running after someone and...

M: Stop it, Mary. It isn't that funny!

M: I think the new film that Fitzgerald directed is quite good. The only problem is that it's aimed at teenagers only.  It holds no interest for any other age group.

W: I like the great musical performances in Fitzgerald's film. He's also a gifted violinist and guitarist, isn't he?

M: Well, I never see him play the violin or the guitar. As far as I know, the piano is the only instrument he likes.

W: I've heard that quite a few important people dislike him. Do you know anything about this?

M: Well. Fitzgerald's expressed his opinions directly and that sometimes makes those important people annoyed.  You see, he has his own ideas about life and he doesn't simply take on other people's because they are famous. Indeed, it is this very aspect of his personality that I find most attractive.  I think the only person he admires and respects is Freddie Taylor.

W: But they have different personalities. Freddie has a warm heart and he is easy to get along with. 停顿  00′02

M: Good evening and thank you for coming to find out about the Hillside Survival School. My name's David Johnson. I started the school and I'm the school's chief instructor. I learned my survival skills while I was in the army,  and before starting the Hillside Survival School, I worked at various camping sites. So, let me tell you about what happens on some of our courses. The most popular course is our basic survival course which lasts a weekend and takes place throughout the year. This course teaches you the basic skills that you need to survive in the wilderness and costs two hundred dollars per person.  Come and join us!Imagine how much more fun you'll have on a sunny weekend here than you just lie on the sofa at home. If you want an even bigger challenge, our extreme survival course takes place between November and February when the conditions are more difficult.  These courses cost two hundred and twenty pounds per person. If you come with a group of more than ten people, each of you will get a 10% discount. The extreme survival course teaches you to survive in a wet and cold environment. No tents, no gas cookers; just you and the wilderness. You learn to find food and cook it over an open fire. You learn to build a shelter  and then you actually sleep in it. You will probably be surprised how well you can work under difficult conditions through this course.
