W: You'd better hurry. The lecture begins at 9: 20 at Room 10.

M: Oh, take it easy. We still have a quarter of an hour before it starts.

M: We'd like a table, please.

W: I'm sorry, sir. We can't do anything for you right now. You see we're packed at lunchtime.

M: My boss took me to a football game after work. I had never seen a professional football game before.

W: That was nice of him. Did you enjoy it?

M: Not particularly. I've never understood how the game works.

M: Are you going to check in your bag or take it on the plane?

W: Ever since I lost my suitcase in Cairo, I take it on the plane.

M: Then I will too, so we won't have to wait when we land.

W: I thought I wouldn't be able to get into the cinema. I suppose it slipped out of my bag earlier when I was looking for my umbrella.

M: At least you had the money to get another one.

W: But it was so embarrassing.

M: Hello, Kate, this is Tom.

W: Hi, Tom. What can I do for you?

M: I'm going to watch tonight's World Cup match, but I'm not familiar with the route.

W: Oh, it's very simple. First, go south on Highway 28 for 5 miles until you come to a large restaurant called Fanny's. Turn left at the restaurant and continue for a few miles more and you will come right to the playground.

M: Do you think the playground will be much too crowded?

W: Well, the radio announced that all the tickets for this game have been sold out. That means you should get there an hour early before the game starts.

M: Thank you very much for your help, Kate. I'll take your advice.

听下面一段对话,回答第810个小题。现在你有15秒钟的时间阅读这个小题。

W: Hello. I'm in town for the medical equipment trade fair. Unfortunately, we have run out of brochures at our company's stand. I have everything you will need saved on this memory card and was wondering if I could get 300 copies printed today.

M: I'm sorry, but our schedule is really busy. The soonest I could get them to you is tomorrow afternoon.

W: Hmm. I think that's too late, as I need them as soon as possible. Are there any other print shops nearby?

M: There aren't any others in this area. I'm afraid the closest one is on Dover Boulevard. You should take a taxi, though, as it closes in 30 minutes.

听下面一段对话,回答第11至第13个小题。现在你有15秒钟的时间阅读这个小题。

M: Good morning, Mrs. Robinson. Can I use your long-legged chair, please? My roof needs repairing.

W: I'm afraid I can't lend it to you now, Mr. Smith. I'll pass it to you this afternoon because my husband, Bill, is using it. He is painting.

M: Painting? That's very interesting! He must be very interested in it.

W: Oh, no. He isn't interested in painting at all.

M: He isn't? I thought he was good at art.

W: Oh, no. He is not painting artworks. He is painting the sitting room. Oh, be careful. The paint may make your clothes dirty.

听下面一段对话,回答第14至第16个小题。现在你有 15秒钟的时间阅读这个小题。

W: Thanks for listening to our program. Our next topic is really interesting. Twins are quite popular nowadays here in London there are books about twins, websites about twins; twins even have their own festivals and clubs. We've sent Trevor Williams to America to find out first-hand information about a very special twins place. Trevor, can you hear me?

M: Yes, Karen, loud and clear.

W: And where are you today, Trevor?

M: As you can see, I'm here in the heart of New York City, in an amazing place Twins Restaurant.

W: Well, then Trevor, what can you tell us about it?

M: Well, Karen, I spoke to the owners, twins Debbie and Lisa Ganz. They come from Chicago. They told me that all the waiters and waitresses here are twins that look exactly alike 37 pairs in all and they always work at the same time, at the same tables.

W: Don't the customers get confused?

M: That's part of the fun! And by the way, if one twin is ill, the other one needn't bother to show up for work. They are only allowed to work in pairs.

W: That's beyond belief!

听下面一段独白,回答第17至第20个小题。现在你有20秒钟的时间阅读这个小题。

W: Welcome to the International Language College. It's a beautiful place that is well worth visiting in this city. As freshmen, you might find it difficult to find your way in the college, so we will take you on a quick tour. The college used to have four departments: English, French, German and Russian, but now there is a Chinese department as well and we are going to set up a Spanish department soon. At the moment we're outside the English department. In the English department there are over 200 students, 30 students in each class. We have 50 teachers, including 20 professors in this department. The teachers are all from different places, mainly from the U.S.A. and Australia, with a few from England and Canada. All of your classes will be here in this building. In the French department, there are over 150 students and 40 teachers mainly from France and Canada. In the Russian department, we have more than 120 students, and 28 teachers from Russia. Now, let's walk over to the main library which is the largest building in the college. But I must remind you that this tour doesn't include a visit to the reading rooms. There are many students on weekdays. They need quiet. I'm afraid we don't do visits on any weekday during working hours. If you do want to see these rooms, the only day there are tours is on Sundays, because the library is closed for maintenance on Saturdays.
