M: OK. Please change my schedule, Jolene.

W: The entrance fee to the museum is twelve dollars per person. I think that's a bit pricey for a single exhibition.
M: But if we show our student IDs, we can both get in for twelve dollars in total instead of twenty-four.
Text3
W: I want to pick up some fresh bread, Jackson. Should I go to the bakery down the street or the nearby supermarket?
M: Both are OK, Rachel, but there's a cafe next to the post office which sells more delicious bread.
W: I'll stop by and check it out. Thanks a lot!
Text4
M: Emily, I'm going to the cinema after school. Do you want to join me?
W: Yes, Edward, but I must play tennis under the guidance of the coach today and tomorrow. Maybe this weekend?
M: Well, my younger brother will have a baseball match then...

W: Hello, Christopher, I hear you are an exchange student. Where are you from?
M: Hi, Tina. I'm from Paris and I used to study in King Edward's Witley in Surrey.
W: That's cool!
M: Now staying at the Bronx High School of Science in New York is also great. I like it very much.
W: What are your favorite subjects, Christopher?
M: Biology and mathematics, and I am good at them. But I am a little slow in terms of literature.

W: This is Holiday Inn. What can I do for you?
M: I'd like to reserve a hotel room.
W: No problem. May I have your name, please?
M: Charles Johnson.
W: Hello, Mr. Johnson. What date would you like to make that reservation for?
M: From April 29 till May 5. We'll check out on the afternoon of May 5.
W: That's fine. Our room rates have recently gone up. Is that okay with you, Mr. Johnson?
M: How much per night are we talking about?
W: It is $110 per night.
M: Yeah, it's reasonable.
W: Okay, Mr. Johnson. We look forward to seeing you!
Text8
M: Excuse me, could you tell me how I can get to the train station?
W: No problem, it's that way. Keep walking straight ahead; then once seeing pass the library you have to turn left. Then take the first right and it's across from the bus station. There is a supermarket near it.
M: Thank you so much! I have only been in Manchester for 2 days, so I don't know my way around the city yet.
W: Oh, I know that feeling. My husband and I moved here one month ago, and I still don't know how to get to certain places! Manchester is so big.
M: Well, thanks for helping me. I have to leave now to make sure I board my train on time. Hopefully I haven't missed it!
W: OK, bye.

M: Sarah, where should we take a vacation this year? Let's decide now.
W: Maybe we could swim and boat in a lake, or perhaps stay in a comfortable cottage where we can relax and enjoy nature. Remember how much fun we had last time, Shelton?
M: You're thinking about a warm place again? I am more interested in doing winter activities this year. How about we find a way to combine both of our interests?
W: That's an idea! But I'm concerned about the weather not being ideal for both types of activities. I'll need to see what's possible.
M: Good thinking. You can look into seasonal weather trends and see what kind of activities are available that we'd both enjoy. Maybe there are indoor options or other attractions to explore if the weather isn't perfect.
W: Yes, and we can also explore the local culture and try some new foods. I've heard that the scenery can be quite amazing at certain times of the year. I'll read up on some travel recommendations.
M: Sounds like a plan! We should also look at reviews of places that offer both relaxation and exciting activities. I'm sure we'll find somewhere perfect for our vacation.
W: Agreed. Let's start right now, and then we can discuss them together. I can't wait for our discussion!
Text10
We are seeing a new kind of economy that uses information and knowledge. Working with our hands and using raw materials are not as important as they used to be for making money. Now, what's really important is knowing things. People who start working will use their brains, not their muscles. People who know a lot get paid for what they learned in school and how well they can learn new things. They use their minds to work with symbols, words, numbers, and information.
What does this mean for you? In the future, you might have a job where you create, use, and share information. Right now, most jobs need people to think a lot, and that will be even more true in the future. Managers and workers will handle things like making new products, making sure things are of good quality, and making customers happy. In the future, you will always be learning new skills to keep up with new technology and innovative ways of doing things. You will also have more control over your job. The old ways of working, like having the same job every day and working in the same place every day, are going away gradually. Companies won't tell you exactly what to do in your job. You have to take control and make things happen by yourself.
